Here is how I was able to make TAPCIS run in the MVDM (which I still
sometimes refer to as the "DOS Box") of OS/2 Version 2.0. I am using
level 6.149 of the pre-release code.
After I loaded TAPCIS, it worked fine the first time, but it wouldn't
dial out after that. I had to literally shut down the DOS session and
restart it before the modem would respond to any more commands.
Research showed that others had the same problem and here is what they
recommended:
In TAPCIS, go to the PARAMETERS screen invoked from the TAPCIS main
screen by pressing the letter P. Two parameters need to be changed:
<I> will show as being set to ATV1DT. Hit the letter I and you will see
that you can now change this string. Make it as follows:
ATV1&C1&D3DT
Next, <R> will show as being ?3. This has to be changed completely, as
you shall see. Where I have used the ^ key, please recognize that due
to the keyboard mapping, you will want to use the character that is
invoked by SHIFT-6 at the top of your keyboard. At least, it is in that
location on most keyboards. It is sometimes referred to as the "not"
sign or the character designating a "control" function.
It should be as follows:
?2+++?2ATH0^M?2ATZ^M?2
Save your changes in TAPCIS, get out of the MVDM ("DOS Box"), and then
re-enter and try the program again, and again, and again. This time,
you should be able to enter TAPCIS and do on-line processing and then do
more on-line processing without having to re-enter the DOS Box again.
