  94.    DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  96.          Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
  97.          buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you
  98.          are expected to register. Individual programs differ on details --
  99.          some request registration, others require it, and some specify a
  100.          maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything from the
  101.          simple right to continue using the software to an updated program
  102.          with printed manual.

  104.          Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software. The   
  105.          copyright holder retains all rights, Shareware authors are
  106.          accomplished programmers, just like commercial authors, and the
  107.          programs are of comparable quality. The main difference is in the

  109.          copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
  110.          specific group. Some authors require written permission before a
  111.          commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  122.    INTRODUCTION

  124.    Message Reader/2 was spawned from the need for a better way to handle
  125.    message threads. The sources were numerous and most had different formats.
  126.    Message Reader/2 allows the user to define a message format which then can
  127.    be opened and read form the PM/WPS environment.

  129.    WARNING: This beta version is hard coded to work only with the IBM
  130.             NCS BBS. The final release will come with several predefined
  131.             formats and the ability for users to define their own.

  133.    INSTALLATION

  135.    Message Reader/2 should be copied into the subdirectory of your choice this
  136.    subdirectory should also be added to your LIBPATH statement in your
  137.    CONFIG.SYS file, so the related DLL files can be found. To execute type 'V'
  138.    at the OS/2 command prompt.

  140.    USING

  142.    Message Reader/2 is currently designed to handle messages after they have
  143.    been captured in some form online. The capture file is then opened by
  144.    Message Reader/2 and processed. Version 2.0 planned for a 1st quarter 93
  145.    will have full online capability for IBM NCS BBS, CompuServe, and Fidonet
  146.    BBS. Others may be added as demand requires.
