SQUALID Version 0.36b for OS/2
* WARNING -- WARNING -- This is a TEST version of the DOS version of SQUALID.
As with all test software you should make backups of the data that could
be affected, in this case your Squish configuration file (SQUISH.CFG). Please
take 2 minutes now to back it up and ensure you have an on-going method
of backing it (and other important data) up. When the file gets corrupted
is TOO late to think about it.
* Squalid for OS/2 is a port of the Turbo C version for DOS written by Greg
Newton. As such, bugs could be introduced first by Greg in his base code
(unlikely), secondly by my conversion to Microsoft C and OS/2. All problems
encountered with the OS/2 version will be considered by me first and if
necessary passed onto Greg.
* All Squalid OS/2 support questions should be directed to Graham Stair at
3:711/409 via NETMAIL or in the Zone 3 CRASHIT or SQUALID message echos if
you have access. If you require an answer then use NETMAIL and say you
require an answer if it isn't obvious you do.
Notes for v0.24b:
-----------------
* This BETA release has had very little testing in the OS/2 environment. That
is YOUR job, but PLEASE take care to backup your squish.cfg file regularly.
I can't say this enough! So do it!
Notes for v0.31b:
-----------------
* This OS/2 version has two "fixes" above the DOS v0.31b version, which may or
may not be retained by Greg in future versions. They are..
a) When creating area's, the areaname will be 'SQLDnnnn', where 'nnnn' is a
unique number to differeniate the areaname from all other areanames in the
CREATEPATH.
b) If there are "holes" in the numbering of a *.MSG NETMAIL area, the OS/2
version processes all the messages, where as the DOS version will only
process up to the "hole".
Notes for v0.33b (added after "release"):
-----------------------------------------
* I have included a file called MECHOFIX.CMD, which with minor changes, is a
REXX file to handle the SQUALID processing, rescanning and packing of
outgoing mail for you. All you have to do is put a call to MECHOFIX in your
command file somewhere after your incoming mail processing.
The changes needed to be made to MECHOFIX.CMD are listed inside the file
itself. Please test this REXX file and the change instructions out and
let me know of any enhancements or changes that need to be made.
Notes for v0.34b:
-----------------
* This beta should fix the STACK overflow problem some people experienced with
the last OS/2 version.
Notes for v0.36b:
-----------------
* An OS/2 version of 0.34 and 0.35 was not released. 0.34 because of reporting
bugs, and 0.35 because I didn't get the code changes. This 0.36 release is
as close to the DOS version as it is ever going to get. I _might_ start
looking at a 32 bit version in the future, but hey, then again I might not!
