  53. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Introduction ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  54.  
  55. SOBNLE is a powerful, fully featured FidoNet Version 7 format nodelist editor 
  56. and browser. The features include: 
  57.  
  58.     1. Supports multiple nodelists. 
  59.  
  60.     2. Simultaneous display of multiple nets from multiple nodelists. 
  61.  
  62.     3. Display, in a tree view format, an overview of the adminstrative nodes 
  63.        within a nodelist. 
  64.  
  65.     4. Edit, and delete existing nodes.  If a node is edited or deleted, and it 
  66.        is displayed in other windows, the other windows are automatically 
  67.        updated to reflect the change. 
  68.  
  69.     5. Add new nodes to a nodelist. If other windows contains a list of nodes 
  70.        for the net the new node is added to, the other windows are update to 
  71.        include the new node.

  74. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Net Nodes Display ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  76. This window displays either a list of nodes within a particular net, a list of 
  77. zone or region independent nodes, or a list of nodes that are the result of a 
  78. nodelist search. 
  79.  
  80. Double clicking the left mouse button on a nodes entry, will invoke the editor 
  81. dialog.  The editor allows you to change the information for the selected node. 
  82.  
  83. Clicking the left menu on a nodes entry, will cause a pop-up menu to be 
  84. displayed that offers you several options: 
  85.  
  86.     1. Add a new node 
  87.  
  88.     2. Edit the selected node clicked the mouse button on. 
  89.  
  90.     3. Delete the selected node clicked the mouse button on. 
  91.  
  92.     4. Refresh the list of nodes in the window.

  95. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Administrative Nodes ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  97. The tree view display shows an overview of the adminstrative nodes in a 
  98. nodelist.  There are 3 levels in the tree. 
  99.  
  100.    Zone      These are the zone coordinators.  Double clicking on a zone 
  101.              coordinator opens a window with a list of the independent nodes 
  102.              for the zone.  Pressing the "+" key on the keyboard or clicking 
  103.              the "+" will expand into a of regions within the zone. 
  104.  
  105.    Region    These are the regional coordinators. Double clicking on a region 
  106.              coordinator opens a window with a list of the independent nodes 
  107.              for the region.  Pressing the "+" key on the keyboard or clicking 
  108.              the "+" will expand into a list of nets within the region. 
  109.  
  110.    Net       Double clicking on a net opens a window with a list of nodes for 
  111.              the selected net.

  114. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Options Menu ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  116. This menu provides several options to help make your life easier: 
  117.  
  118. Configuration       Invokes the configuration dialog. 
  119.  
  120. Change Font         Allows you to change the font used in the windows. When a 
  121.                     font is changed, all opened windows and subsequently opened 
  122.                     winodws will use the new font. The new font is saved and 
  123.                     will be applied the next time SOBNLE is used. 
  124.  
  125.                     Note:  This option is only available from the main window. 
  126.  
  127. Main Window         Forces the main window to get the desk top focus. 
  128.  
  129. Default Nodelist    Invokes a dialog to change the default nodelist. 
  130.  
  131.                     Note:  This option is available only in the main window. 
  132.  
  133. Add New Node        Invokes a dialog to insert a new node into the nodelist. 
  134.  
  135. Delete Node         Inokes a dialog to delete a node. 
  136.  
  137. Edit Node           Invokes a dialog to edit a nodes information. 
  138.  
  139. Refresh             Refreshes the list shown in the window. 
  140.  
  141.                     Note:  This option is not available in the Adminstrative 
  142.                     window. 
  143.  
  144. Exit                Closes the active window.  If the active window is the main 
  145.                     window, all other windows are closed and SOBNLE terminates.

  148. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. List Menu ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  150. This menu allows you to open one of several lists: 
  151.  
  152. Admin Nodes         Opens a window with a tree view of the adminstrative nodes 
  153.                     within a nodelist. 
  154.  
  155. Net List            Opens a window with a list of nodes for a particular net. 
  156.  
  157. Search Node List    Opens a window with a list of nodes that match your 
  158.                     specified search criteria. 
  159.

  161. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. SOBNLE Configuration ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  162.  
  163. With this dialog, you enter information for all of the nodelists you want to 
  164. access with SOBNLE.  The first nodelist entered will become the default 
  165. nodelist used by SOBNLE.  You may change the default nodelist via the Options 
  166. pull down menu.  If a zone and net are entered, SOBNLE will display the nodes 
  167. for zone:net from the corresponding nodelist when it is started. 
  168.  
  169. When all the information for a nodelist has been entered, selecting the Add 
  170. button, will add the information to the listbox. Double clicking a nodelist's 
  171. entry in the list box will delete the information for that nodelist. 
  172.  
  173. Zone      Default zone when this nodelist is used. 
  174.  
  175. Net       Default net when this nodelist is used 
  176.  
  177. Name      This is the name you nodelist compiler uses to prepend to the node 
  178.           index and the DAT file.  Usually this name is NODEX 
  179.  
  180. Path      The path name where your nodelist is located. 
  181.  
  182.           Note:  A trailing slash is not need for the path name.

  185. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8. Node Prompt ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  187. This dialog is entered when SOBNLE needs a complete nodenumber to complete your 
  188. request.

  190. Zone                Zone the node belongs to. If you entered a default zone for 
  191.                     the nodelist, it is automatically entered. 
  192.  
  193. Net                 Net the node belongs to. If you entered a default net for 
  194.                     the nodelist, it is automatically entered. 
  195.  
  196. Node                The nodes actual node number. 
  197.  
  198. Point               If the node is a point, the point number. 
  199.  
  200. Select Nodelist     The default nodelist is automatically selected for you and 
  201.                     is displayed in the list box.  If you wish to use another 
  202.                     nodelist for this request, click on the down arrow of the 
  203.                     listbox and select the desired nodelist.

  208. The default nodelist is automatically selected for you and is displayed in the 
  209. list box.  If you wish to use another nodelist for this request, click on the 
  210. down arrow of the listbox and select the desired nodelist.

  215. This dialog is presenting the information for the node that you requested to be 
  216. deleted.  Selecting OK, will cause the node to be deleted from the nodelist.

  221. This dialog is entered when SOBNLE needs the zone and net to create a window 
  222. containing a list of nodes.

  224. Zone                Zone the desired net is. If you entered a default zone for 
  225.                     the nodelist, it is automatically entered. 
  226.  
  227. Net                 The net whose nodes you wish listed.  If you entered a 
  228.                     default net for the nodelist, it is automatically entered. 
  229.  
  230. Select Nodelist     The default nodelist is automatically selected for you and 
  231.                     is displayed in the list box.  If you wish to use another 
  232.                     nodelist for this request, click on the down arrow of the 
  233.                     listbox and select the desired nodelist.

  236. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12. Nodelist Search ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  238. Enter your search criteria in the entry field.  If you do not select any of the 
  239. radio buttons, SOBNLE assumes you want a SysOp name and will use the SysOp 
  240. index.

  242. Note:  If any of the radio buttons are selected, an index will not be used for 
  243. the search.  Instead the entire nodelist will be read looking for entries that 
  244. match your search argument. 
  245.  
  246. The default nodelist is automatically selected for you and is displayed in the 
  247. list box.  If you wish to use another nodelist for this request, click on the 
  248. down arrow of the listbox and select the desired nodelist.

  251. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 13. Edit/Add node ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  253. This dialog is used to edit information for an existing node, or to enter 
  254. information for a new node.  Unless specifically noted, all fields are 
  255. optional. 
  256.  
  257. SysOp Name     The name of the SysOp for this node. 
  258.  
  259.                Note:  This field is required. 
  260.  
  261. System Name    System name for this node. 
  262.  
  263. Location       City, State/Country for this node. 
  264.  
  265. Telephone      Nodes telephone number. 
  266.  
  267.                Note:  This field is required. 
  268.  
  269. Modem Type     Encoded modem type.  Please consult the doc's for your nodelist 
  270.                compiler for an appropriate value. 
  271.  
  272. Modem Baud     Maximum baud rate for this node.  Select a value other than the 
  273.                default by clicking on the down arrow of the list box. 
  274.  
  275. User Cost      The cost that a BBS user will be charged for sending a netmail 
  276.                message to this node. 
  277.  
  278. Call Cost      Actual cost to call this node. 
  279.  
  280. Hub Node       If this node belongs to a HUB within the net, enter the HUB 
  281.                number. 
  282.  
  283.                Note:  If the node is a point, this field will not appear.

  285. CM             Node can receive mail 24 hours a day. 
  286.  
  287. Zone           Check if node is a zone coordinator. 
  288.

  291. Region         Check if node is a region coordinator

  295. Host           Check if node is a net host.

  309. Accelerator keys provide a fast way of performing common functions. When two 
  310. keys are joined by a plus sign (+), use these two keys together. Press and hold 
  311. the first key and then press the second key. 
  312.

  315. ESC       Terminates an active dialog. 
  316.  
  317. F1        Context sensitive help. 
  318.  
  319. Alt       Activates the menu bar.
