  5. 2.20 - Changed DPMI_MEMORY_LIMIT to 16 instead of the default of 4. DOS
  6.        programs seem to load faster with this set at 16.

  8.        Changed OS/2's IDLE_SENSITIVITY from the default of 75 to 38.
  9.        I have been trying NUMEROUS settings for this over the past few
  10.        weeks to determine where to set it for optimal performance. IT
  11.        seemed that setting it in the upper 30's seemed to work best.
  12.        I had a SETTINGS user tell me his ran well with a value of 38,
  13.        and since that fell in line with what my results were showing, I
  14.        chose a value of 38.

  16.        Changed EMS memory limit from 2048 to 1024. 1024 is adequate
  17.        for each DOS VDM. If you use programs that require more EMS,
  18.        increase this value.

  20.        Added PRINTMONBUFSIZE to the list of CONFIG.SYS statements
  21.        with values to increase printing output performance.

  23.        Added several various notes to certain items. PLEASE take the
  24.        time to re-read this file if yo are a long time SETTINGS user.

  31.        As of this release, SETTINGS.TXT is now distributed in two
  32.        formats: SETTINGS.ZIP which is this text file ZIPped up with
  33.        a file description, and the all new FULLPACK.ZIP, which
  34.        includes a variety of text files to help users get their BBS
  35.        up and running under OS/2 as fast as possible.

  37.        Since this text file has been an immensly popular choice for
  38.        MANY Sysop's all over the world, measures have now been taken
  39.        to ensure that this text file, as well as supplemental files
  40.        get to you in an unmodified format. As of this release, both
  41.        SETTINGS.ZIP and FULLPACK.ZIP have now been stamped for
  42.        authenticity verification to ensure that the files have not
  43.        been modified from their original version in any way. When
  44.        PKUNZIPing these files, you should see the filename followed
  45.        by the "-AV" sign of verification. If you download this file
  46.        off of a BBS, the -AV code may have been stripped from the
  47.        archive. This is normal. If however you are concerned that
  48.        the files may have been modified, you are welcome to FREQ a
  49.        copy of SETTINGS.ZIP directly from me, or download it from
  50.        my BBS. The number for the BBS is listed at the end of
  51.        SETTINGS.TXT. Sysop's receive access on the first call.

  54.        You should then download a new SETTINGS.TXT directly from my
  55.        BBS or FREQ it from 1:2210/9639 to ensure that the settings you
  56.        have are MY settings and not someone else's (It HAS happened).

  84.        performance of other DOS Based BBS software platforms as well.

  86.        BBS software users in mind, not just Wildcat! Specifically. I
  87.        encourage you to distribute this text file to other SysOp's who
  88.        you feel may benefit from this information!

  93. 1.12 - Added some support for OS/2 3.0 Warp. Although I personally have
  94.        only used the Warp beta, I did have the opportunity to use 3.0
  95.        at the IBM unveiling of Warp in Chicago recently. From what I
  96.        saw of the product, the settings in the Warp beta were the same
  97.        as in the finished product. I will provide further support for
  98.        this in the future as soon as I receive the 3.0 release.

  100.        Added many cosmetic enhancements, specifically breaking down
  101.        each DOS and CONFIG.SYS setting and adding more verbose comments.

  109. 1.10 - Changed a number of things WRT to high baud rates. Many people
  110.        were complaining of sluggish CPS rates for high speed callers
  111.        (1600 CPS at 28.8! <ACK!>), and this "problem" has been found
  112.        and corrected. CPS rates should improve drastically for those
  113.        who had problems. Specifically, the following has been changed..

  116.        IDLE_SENSITIVITY from 99 to 75 (default)
  117.        OSTSR from a value of 2 to 3 (3 seemed to be slightly faster)
