  1. Luxite, the vital mineral used for super-light travel, comes in five
  2. different varieties (represented here by the letters A-E).  Your goal is
  3. to figure out which varieties can be found in each of the five different
  4. promising locations on this plot.
  5.  
  6. To collect the information, guess any combination of four letters from A
  7. to E (for instance, "ABCD" or "AAAE").  Your detection equipment will
  8. tell you how many "near hits" you've made (where you guessed a type that
  9. does appear, but it's in the wrong place) and how many hits (where
  10. you've guessed the right type and the right place).  For instance, if
  11. the correct combination is "AABE" and you guess "AEDC", you score one
  12. hit and one near miss.

  14. You have six chances to refine your guess.  The amount of luxite you
  15. produce will be determined by how close you come on your final guess
  16. (and, of course the amount of luxite on the plot to begin with).
