- On page 1-16 of the v9.00 user manual, reference is made to keywords
which start with RC_ and ERC_, etc, and that deletion of these keywords
are optional. These keywords are NOT included in your STARTUP file(s)
because they are being phased out in favor of VERBOSE modem results.
When setting up your BBS's STARTUP file(s), use VERBOSE modem results
(AT V1 for most modems, or a V1 within any of your init strings).
- The PKUNZIP2.EXE and PKZIP2.EXE programs that are included on the
distribution diskette are licensed from PK-WARE. HOWEVER, PK-WARE
DOES NOT HAVE AN OS/2 VERSION WHICH IS COMPATIBLE WITH THEIR 2.04G
ZIP FORMAT FOR DOS!!!
For compatibility with the 2.04G format, you'll need to do this:
1) Call our BBS at (818) 782-6290
2) Download UNZ512X2.EXE (self-extracting file)
Download ZIP201X2.ZIP
Both files are located in area F of our FileBase 0.
Log off.
3) Create a temporary directory (ie: MD d:\TEMP where d: is
the drive that your MAGNUM system is located on). Change
over to that drive and directory:
d:
md \temp
cd \temp
4) Place both UNZ512X2.EXE and ZIP201X2.ZIP in that temp direcotry.
From there, perform the following commands:
unz512x2
copy unzip.exe \magnum\ext_dir
unzip -C zip201x2 zip.exe
copy unzip.exe \magnum\ext_dir
cd \
del \temp ---- answer Y
rd temp
5) Create the following file in your \magnum\ses_dir\
d:\MAGNUM\SES_DIR\COMPRESS.LST
Edit this file to make it have the following contents:
.ZIP:
C=ZIP.EXE -u %s
D=UNZIP.EXE -oqjC %s
L=UNZIP.EXE -v %s
T=UNZIP.EXE -t %s
K=ZIP.EXE -z %s
More about the COMPRESS.LST file can be found beginning on
page 6-5 of the user manual.
- Ray Gwinn's SIO???.ZIP (???=version#) should be used in place of
IBM's COM.SYS drivers. As of this writing (April 1996) the latest
version is SIO153.ZIP but this changes frequently. Check our BBS
for the latest version (its always in our FileBase 0) by doing a
"[T]ext Search" for SIO1 or GWIN
- Magnum's POWER offline reader has been discontinued in favor of QWK
offline readers.
- MAGUUCP (Terminal & UUCP program) is an optional program needed for
Internet E-mail. It is not included as part of the Magnum system.
See the ORDER.TXT file for pricing information.
- All those who are interested in FidoNet Mail for Magnum should contact:
