  1. Upgrade information for 0.05g1
  2. ==============================

  4. This upgrade manual is only meant for users upgrading from an existing
  5. EleBBS/tcRA32/RA installation, please read INSTALL.TXT for instructions
  6. how to install a fresh copy of EleBBS.
  7.  
  8. Step:
  9.  
  10. 1). Make a complete backup of your existing configuration.
  11. 2). Unpack the BIN.ZIP into your existing directory (eg: C:\ELE\)
  12. 3). If you previously used EleNEWS, please first send all messages to the
  13.     host that still needs to be sent. Then delete the whole area, to make
  14.     sure EleNEWS won't get confused. Then make sure that you setup the
  15.     newsgroups in ELCONFIG. You can do this by running ELCONFIG > MANAGER >
  16.     Message areas, and then selecting an area. At the bottom right corner
  17.     of the screen you see a new item called "Newsgroups". Please specify
  18.     the groupname in here as well.

  21. If you are upgrading from EleBBS v0.04.g1 you can skip this step 3 and go
  22. to step 4 directly.

  25. 3). Please run ELCONFIG and edit all your language prompts manually to add the
  26.     language entries #673 - #682. You can simply use the default entries for
  27.     these prompts.
  28. 4). Please update language entry #603 to support the (Skip) command. You can
  29.     use the default entry as a reference. (ALT-D to copy the default).
  30. 5). Change language entries 678 and 679 to the default settings.
  31. 6). Please run ELCONFIG, go to System and Paths and then enter an
  32.     Utility logfile. All EleBBS utilities (EleUSER, EleFILE, TELSRV and such)
  33.     will use this logfile instead of the standard BBS logfile.
  34. 7). Please run ELCONFIG again and go via Manager to Message areas. You can
  35.     exit directly again if you do not wish to setup newsgroups for NEWSSRV.

  37. By following these steps your upgrade to EleBBS v0.05.g1 should go as smooth
  38. as possible!
