-- DATA DOWNS LITE v1.00 Horse Racing Door --
<<VERSIONS OF THIS PROGRAM ARE AVAILABLE FOR DOS AND OS/2>>
INSTALLATION:
Create an appropriate directory and place the contents of this zipfile in it
(for example: C:\DATADOWN).
Using DOOR.CFG as a template, create and edit as many copies of this file as
needed, one for each node you intend to run. For example, DOOR1.CFG for node
1, DOOR2.CFG for node 2, etc. Follow the instructions in the DOOR.CFG file to
properly setup each node. The best place for these .CFG files is in the same
directory as Data Downs (e.g. C:\DATADOWN).
To call Data Downs from your BBS you will need to create a .CMD file using the
format of the following example:
C: <----- Changes to the correct drive, then goes to...
CD\DATADOWN <----- ...the directory where Data Downs files are.
DD_OS2 DOOR1.CFG PORT <----- Runs Data Downs using the DOOR1.CFG
C: <-_ configuration file and looks for a DOS style
CD\BBS -_ port in the dropfile.
-_
- When finished, change to the correct drive...
...and directory for BBS.
Your BBS may require a different series of instructions. Be sure to check the
manual for your BBS regarding door operations if you have any questions.
COMMAND LINE SWITCHES:
Usage: dd_os2 [door.cfg] [local] [edit] [port/handle] [nasty/nice]
[door.cfg] - The pathname of the configuration file used for this
session of Data Downs.
[local] - Run Data Downs in local mode. This option allows you
to run Data Downs (or the Editor) without being online.
[edit] - Run the Data Downs Player/Horse Editor (commercial version)
[port] or - Using this option lets Data Downs know whether the
[handle] dropfile passes a port (DOS-style BBS) or a handle (like
Maximus/2) in the dropfile. 'Handle' is the default.
[nice] or - Used to control the multitasking aggresiveness of
[nasty] the program. 'Normal' is the default.
Examples: dd_os2 local
dd_os2 node_1.cfg
dd_os2 local edit
dd_os2 node_1.cfg port nasty
