There have been some big changes to cPoint since v2.17 ....
So many that v2.19 got skipped because I ran out of internal
version designations while extensive alpha and beta testing
was being carried out.
Some reasons why you may not want to upgrade to v2.20 ....
- The Hudson Message Base is no longer used. This means that if
you are used to using TimEd or GoldEd as your reader you will
no longer be able to do so.
- The Janus protocol has been removed. An external protocol
driver can now be defined and I am working on a Janus driver
that will be suitable for use as an external driver. Until
that is done there is no longer any Janus support in cPoint.
- The data entry code is completely new. The addition of mouse
support and the new dialogue entry boxes has altered the
(perhaps mindless) earlier data entry code.
- Executables use slightly more disk space.
On the other side the external protocol driver gives cPoint
much more flexibility. The cPMsg message base system is
self-maintaining. The message files will grow only so far
and then space from deleted messages will be re-used and
require less maintenance by the user.
Your choice!
