  19. BACKGROUND AND DESCRIPTION

  22. IBM at last introduced the Windows-like Alt-Tab switcher in the OS/2.
  23. But only for the PM programs! As for me I still use many full-screen DOS
  24. and OS/2 programs like Norton Commander (the best file manager of all times
  25. and nations :-) and the other that can seem obsolete to someone.

  27. So, here it is, the Alt-Tab switcher for full-screen DOS and OS/2 sessions.

  32. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  33. ===================

  35. OS/2 Warp 4.0 Merlin. The program is still operational but not so useful 
  36. in the earlier versions of OS/2, for you will not have the PM switcher.

  39. USAGE
  40. =====
  41.  
  42. Run LSWITCH.EXE from an OS/2 command prompt or place it in the startup
  43. folder for automatic start at boot time (you may want to check the Run
  44. Minimized check box in the Properties notebook). Run LSWITCH.EXE also
  45. in each DOS session or place it in your AUTOEXEC.BAT for automatic
  46. start. LSWFSMON.EXE must be in the same directory where LSWITCH.EXE is.
  47. If something goes wrong and the program cannot load you will hear a low
  48. beep.

  50. To activate the program, use Alt-Tab. Browse through the list by holding the 
  51. Alt key down and hitting or holding down the Tab key. Browse backwards by 
  52. holding down the Shift key at the same time. To select an application, 
  53. release the Alt key. To cancel the selection, hit Spacebar before releasing 
  54. the Alt key.

  56. You can unload the program from memory by pressing Ctrl-Alt-U in an OS/2 
  57. full-screen session. You will hear a short beep when the program unloads
  58. itself.

  61. KNOWN PROBLEMS
  62. ==============

  64. If you press Alt-Tab and then release Alt very quickly you can sometimes
  65. get stucked in a pressed-down state. Press and release the Alt key once 
  66. more to switch to the task you've chosen.
