Make sure you don't have any '\' characters in your modem init
strings.
They need to be changed to '\\' for slattach. Dialip now does this
automatically. If you don't want it then you have to take them
out, and let me know so I can make it an option.
Did you install and config tcpip?
Before you ran dialip.exe did you run tcpstart.cmd?
Unless you get to this line it did not start ppp to connect:
executable connect command with password=start /b /min /c ppp
priority....
Also run 'f:\dialip\which.cmd ppp.exe' from say the root directory to
find out which ppp.exe is being used. Do not run which from the
directory where ppp.exe already is. If it is using the old one (mine
should probably be the newest) that could be the problem. I would
rename the old ppp.exe to something like ppp.old and copy mine over to
where that was. It might be in x:\tcpip\bin.
Also if you are using OS/2 3.0 and it will not dial and if in debug
it tells you you are missing setloc1.dll; this might be because you
are using my ppp.exe from OS/2 4.0 and you will need this setloc1.dll.
If so then copy this file, which I included, into like: x:\os2\dll.
I also included a newer pppmerln.exe beta you can try from IBM. Just
rename your ppp.exe ppp.old and copy pppmerln.exe to ppp.exe
In the 'Connection' tab page, did you pick a service provider, then
'Load Defaults', then 'Build Connection String'? If so send me the
string in the field below. It should be something like:
start /b /min /c ppp priority 4 defaultroute com2 57600 rtscts idle 15
conne...
try running from an os/2 window: start dialip -v -debug
then load your id settings and dial. Compare your output to mine.
I included my output.
A couple of other things. For the 'Program to start at Connect' when
it connects, depending on what you are doing, you may want to put a
'start' in front of the command. This means it will go off on its own
and the rest of dialip will continue. Otherwise dialip will wait for
your autostart program to end before it continues. This might be what
you want in some cases otherwise dialip might finish before the
program you autostarted finishes and hangup and exit if you told it
to, before that program got done.
My output:
