Getting Help
==============================================================================
Documentation
-------------
All documentation can be found in PMMail's online help. Simply select
"Help Contents" from any pulldown "Help" menu.
Service and Technical Support
-----------------------------
If the online help system does not give you a satisfactory answer to
your question, please check the PMMail World Wide Web page, maintained
by SouthSide Software. On this page, you can find various REXX scripts
to enhance PMMail, conversion utilities to convert other mail formats to
PMMail's format, and an up to date list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ),
and their answers, provided by SouthSide Software. This URL for this page
is:
http://www.southsoft.com/pmmail.html
If you still cannot answer your question based on the information on
both the web page and the online help system, feel free to e-mail the
PMMail support account. To ensure that you get a speedy response from
SouthSide, make sure you include all pertinent information. The support
e-mail address is:
pmmail@southsoft.com
Defect Reporting
----------------
If you encounter a bug or defect in PMMail, WE WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT!
Unfortunately, we receive a lot of e-mail, so your cooperation if bug
reporting is greatly appreciated. Please use the following guidelines to
report any bug and e-mail it to pmmail@southsoft.com. Following these
instructions is essential to getting the bug properly fixed and a reply
sent to you. Thanks!
If you are reporting a bug, please let us know:
- The *EXACT* steps in reproducing this bug. Make sure that you can
reproduce this bug before you tell us about it.
- If there is a problem with a specific e-mail message, send us the
e-mail message as an *ATTACHMENT*. Do NOT forward or bounce the message
to us. The bug report will be incomplete without this. To find the
e-mail message, look under the PMMail root directory and follow the
directory structure into the account (*.ACT subdirectory) it is in, and
then the folder (*.FLD subdirectory) it is in. Take a look at the
FOLDER.BAG file to obtain the name of the e-mail message. You can also
drag and drop the message to attach it to a note.
- The version of OS/2 (with fixpack numbers), other programs that you
frequently run when PMMail is running, and your network setup.
Feature Requests
----------------
If you are telling us about a feature you would like to request:
- Please understand that all feature requests get added to a feature
database. We do not necessarily determine on the spot if your feature
will be in the next release or not. Usually, some amount of research
must be done before this can be determined.

Installing PMMail
==============================================================================
1. Unzip the distribution file PMMAIL.ZIP to a temp directory
or a floppy disk.
2. Switch to the directory in which you unzipped PMMAIL.ZIP
and run INSTALL.EXE.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions. If you are upgrading from PMMail
1.0-1.1, install into a new directory and migrate your PMMail 1.0-1.1
installation. If you are upgrading from PMMail 1.5x, see the
special installation notes in the next section.
4. Once installation is complete, a PMMail folder will appear on your
desktop. Inside it you will find a PMMail icon and several files
which will provide some valuable information. Please read these
files before running PMMail (especially the PMMail ReadMe).
5. Enjoy PMMail!

Special Installation Notes
==============================================================================
Upgrading From PMMail 1.5x
--------------------------
When upgrading from PMMail 1.5x, please make sure to have the install
routine install PMMail in the PARENT directory of the directory where the
PMMail executable (PMMAIL.EXE) is currently installed.
For example if PMMail 1.5x is currently installed in
F:\APPS\SOUTHSDE\PMMAIL, specify F:\APPS\SOUTHSDE as the "SouthSide
Install Directory".
As well, if PMMail 1.5x is currently installed in
F:\SOUTHSDE\PMMAIL, specify F:\SOUTHSDE as the "SouthSide Install
Directory".
For a final install example, if PMMail 1.5x is currently installed in
F:\PMMAIL, specify F:\ as the "SouthSide Install Directory".
Installing From a Floppy Disk
-----------------------------
If you seem to be having trouble installing PMMail from a floppy
disk and you are getting an error from IBM's software installer that says it
can't find DISK 1, try labeling the floppy disk PMM192DISK1 using the LABEL
command from the OS/2 command line.
