  5.   =====================  Evaluation version of Dr Solomon's FindVirus v7.76

  8. This version of Dr Solomon's FindVirus is designed to run on IBM PC
  9. compatible computers.  Remember that FindVirus is just one part of Dr
  10. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit.
  11.  
  12. The full commercial Toolkit includes many other facilities including a user 
  13. interface, TSR, VxD, Virus Encyclopedia etc as well as versions specific for 
  14. DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows NT, OS/2, Novell NetWare, UNIX,
  15. SMTP-compatible email systems, Lotus Notes/Domino, Microsoft Exchange
  16. and Apple Macintosh.  Read TOOLKIT.TXT for more information on this.

  18. If you suspect you may have a virus we strongly recommend that you 
  19. cold-boot (not Ctrl-Alt-Del) from a clean (virus-free), write-protected      
  20. floppy disk and run FindVirus from a write-protected floppy.  This ensures
  21. that the virus will not be in memory while you are scanning or attempting
  22. to repair the infection.  If FindVirus detects a virus in memory it will
  23. warn you with a suitable message.

  26. FINDVIRUS SYNTAX

  29. Users of 8086/286 machines will be unable to use the /ANALYZE, /PACK and
  30. /UNZIP options, as they are only available on 386 PCs and better.

  35.            FINDVIRU [switches]

  40.  
  41.            /386 ................. Force use of 386 version of FindVirus 
  42.                                   (which supports the unzipping and 
  43.                                   heuristic analysis command-line 
  44.                                   options).  FindVirus should 
  45.                                   automatically detect if you have a 386,
  46.                                   but if you experience problems try this
  47.                                   switch.
  48.            /ALLDRIVES or /AD..... Check all fixed disk drives,
  49.                                   including network drives.
  50.            /ANALYZE or /ANALYSE   
  51.                     or /AN....... Use Advanced Heuristic Analysis
  52.                                   to detect new and unknown viruses,
  53.                                   including new and unknown Word
  54.                                   macro viruses!
  55.            /DOALLFILES .......... Check all files, not just
  56.                                   executables.
  57.            /EXTRA=file .......... Use specified additional virus
  58.                                   driver file.
  59.            /HELP or /? .......... Display command-line syntax.
  60.            /LOCAL ............... Check local hard drives.
  61.            /LOUD ................ Display verbose output.
  62.            /NOPACK .............. Do not scan internally files
  63.                                   compressed with PKLite, LZExe,
  64.                                   ICE, CryptCom, Microsoft Compress
  65.                                   and Diet (default).
  66.            /PACK ................ Scan internally files compressed
  67.                                   with PKLite, LZExe, ICE, CryptCom,
  68.                                   Microsoft Compress and Diet.
  69.            /PRINTOUT ............ Output report to printer as well
  70.                                   as to screen.
  71.            /REPAIR [/DELETE] .... Repair infected files.  The optional
  72.                                   /DELETE switch deletes files that
  73.                                   cannot be repaired.
  74.            /REPORT=file ......... Output report to specified file.
  75.            /UNZIP ............... Scan recursively files compressed
  76.                                   with PKZIP, ARJ, ARC, LZH, PKLite,
  77.                                   LZExe, ICE, CryptCom, Microsoft
  78.                                   Compress and Diet.  If you use this
  79.                                   switch it is not necessary to use
  80.                                   the /PACK option.
  81.            /YESBREAK ............ Allow FindVirus to be interrupted
  82.                                   during scan with Ctrl-Break.

  85.  There are a lot more switches available in the regular version of
  86.  Dr Solomon's FindVirus included in the full commercial version of
  87.  Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit.

  92. FINDVIRU C:
  93.   Scans the C: drive for known viruses
  94.  
  95. FINDVIRU C: /UNZIP
  96.   Scans the C: drive for known viruses, including inside compressed 
  97.   and archived files.

  99. FINDVIRU C: D: /ANALYSE
  100.   Scans the C: and D: drives for both known *and* unknown viruses
  101.   - including new and unknown macro viruses.

  103. FINDVIRU /LOCAL /REPAIR
  104.   Scans all local fixed drives for known viruses.  If any are found 
  105.   FindVirus will attempt to clean-up the infection.

  107. FINDVIRU A: /REPORT=C:\REPORT.TXT
  108.   Scans the A: drive for known viruses, writing a report to REPORT.TXT in
  109.   the root directory of the C: drive
