2000 To get help pause the mouse over any tool or button; an explanation of this item appears in the help window.
2003 Type a title or your name in this box to label your tessellation.
2004 Use the tools below to view animations of the tessellation.
2005 Use the arrow, finger, and scissors tools below to shape the outline of the tile. Use the paint tools to add drawn items.
2020 Starts and stops animation of the tile tessellating.
2021 Starts and stops animation of the tessellation changing from its base shape to its final shape.
2022 Starts and stops animation of the tessellation shrinking and growing.
2023 Starts and stops animation of the tessellation removing artwork.
2024 Displays the tessellation full screen.
2050 To move a tile click inside the tile and drag. To resize a tile click and drag the corner handles.
2051 Select the line tool. Click inside the tile and drag to draw lines. Shift-click to draw vertical, horizontal, or 45 degree diagonal lines.
2052 Select the rectangle. Click and drag to draw an outline rectangle. Shift-click to draw an outline square.
2053 Select the oval. Click and drag to draw an outline oval. Shift-click to draw an outline circle.
2054 Select the filled rectangle. Click and drag to draw a filled rectangle. Shift-click to draw a filled square.
2055 Select the filled oval. Click and drag to draw a filled oval. Shift-click to draw a filled circle.
2056 Click the outline of the tile to add circular points. Click and drag points to shape the tile.
2057 Select the pencil. Click inside the tile and drag to draw free-form lines.
2058 Select the fill tool. Click a closed area to fill it with color. Shift-click to use the tile border to limit the fill area.
2059 Select the eyedropper. Click a color in the tile or tessellation to make it the active color.
2060 Select the marquee. Click and drag to select drawn items to move, cut, or copy them.
2061 Select the paintbrush. Click inside the tile and drag to paint broad free-form lines.
2062 Click a circular point added with the Finger tool to delete it.
2063 Select the eraser. Click and drag to erase artwork.
2064 Select the zoom in tool. Click the tile to enlarge the image.
2065 Select the zoom out tool. Click the tile to reduce the image.
2066 Select the hand tool. Click and drag a magnified tile to view a specific section.
2067 Select the stamp tool. Click inside the tile to add stamps.
2068 Click to open the stamp palette. Click a category tab then click a stamp to select it.
2069 To open the color palette click the active color beside the white arrow. To make a different color in the color wheel active click the color.
2070 Starts and stops animation of the tile building from its base shape to its final shape.
2071 Takes you to the Main Menu
2072 Undo the last action. Click a second time to redo the action.
2073 Click to choose a line thickness.
2100 Opens a new file and prompts you to choose a base shape and tile type for your tessellation.
2101 Opens an activity which lets you explore slides, turns, flips, and glides.
2102 Runs a QuickTime movie that introduces tessellations and teaches you how to create one with Tessellation Exploration.
2103 Lets you view sample tessellations or your own tessellations in a slide show.
2104 Opens a previously saved tessellation.
2105 Quits Tessellation Exploration.
2106 Takes you to the Main Menu.
2200 Takes you to the Main Menu.
2201 Takes you back to Choose a Base Shape.
2202 Takes you to the next screen where you can choose the geometric moves for your tile.
2204 Click to select a triangle as your base shape.
2205 Click to select a quadrilateral as your base shape.
2206 Click to select a pentagon as your base shape.
2207 Click to select a hexagon as your base shape.
2208 Choose a base shape for your tessellation. Click Next when you are ready.
2209 Takes you to the Tessellation Creator where you can shape your tile and add artwork.
2210 Click to view an animation of the tile building from its base shape to its final shape.
2211 Click a tab to view tiles with that move.
2212 Choose a move and a tile type for your tessellation. Click Create My Own when you are ready to make your own tessellation.
2213 Displays the active tile tessellating.
2214 Displays a tessellation of the selected base shape.
2300 Starts and stops the tutorial movie.
2301 Takes you to the Main Menu.
2302 The tutorial movie screen.
2303 Click to adjust the volume.
2304 Click to play or stop the movie.
2305 Drag the slider to jump to a specific part of the movie.
2306 Click to step backward in the movie.

2402 Starts and stops animation of the tile building from its base shape to its final shape.
2403 Starts and stops the slide show.
2404 Adds a scrolling transition between slides.
2405 Choose a folder of tessellations from your hard drive or disk to view in a slide show.
2407 To run the slide show slowly drag the slider to the left. To run the slide show quickly drag the slider to the right.
2408 Takes you to the Main Menu.
2409 Displays the name of the active tile. Click the pull-down menu to select a new tile.
2451 Displays the title for the active tile.
2455 Use the tools below to view a slide show of tessellations.
