  24. 1. If this file was zipped. Unzip and copy all files to a new, empty directory (folder).
  25. 2. Close this file.
  26. 3. Run setup.exe from your preferred file management program.
  27. Be sure to install this program in a directory different than the directory created
  28. in step 1 above.

  44. What is NetScanTools?
  45.  
  46. NetScanTools contains a number of ports of UNIX functions:
  47.  
  48. nslookup -- simplified name server lookup of host names or IPs
  49. finger -- gets info about users on remote systems
  50. ping -- determines ability to reach a remote host
  51. traceroute -- determines route taken to reach a remote host
  52. whois -- a lookup utility for determining registered internet names etc.
  53. daytime -- the time of day on a remote host
  54. quote -- returns quote of the day from a remote host
  55. character generator -- a client that accesses a chargen service to determine your link speed.
  56. What's new at NWPS' web site -- a barebones URL grabber.
  57. NetScanner -- A easy to sequentially ping an IP address range to find
  58.   the active computers. Will also resolve the IPs to host names. Hosts
  59.   file management.

  62. sockets can connect to; the protocols understood by your version of sockets;
  63. and general info about your version of Windows sockets.

  78. This program requires Windows NT 3.51 (tm), 4.0 or Windows 95 (tm).
  79. It will not run on Windows 3.0, 3.1, 3.11, Win32s, Windows for Workgroups, or
  80. Windows NT 3.5 or 3.1.  (all the preceeding are trademarks or registered trademarks of
  81. the Microsoft Corporation).

  83. An actively running connection to a network using a Windows
  84. Sockets (or compatible) link is suggested.  Network cards to TCPIP networks are OK and
  85. dialup connections to internet providers are OK.  If you use dialup, you
  86. must be using a SLIP or PPP connection (TIA and Slirp work fine for all
  87. functions except ping and traceroute which require a static IP).

  90. NetScanTools. Most of what you see are the result of suggestions from users.
