  1. Subject:       WAIS Toolkit 0.72 for Windows NT available

  3. This message is to announce the availability of a new version of the 
  4. freeware WAIS Toolkit for Windows NT. This software allows a Windows 
  5. NT machine to prepare and search full-text databases and can be used 
  6. as the searching engine for the Gopher Server (GOPHERS), the HTTP 
  7. Server (HTTPS), or the WAIS Server (WAISS) for Windows NT.

  9. WAIS Toolkit version 0.72 is largely based on the "freeWAIS" version 0.3.
  10. Executables for Intel-based systems, MIPS systems, and DEC Alpha systems,
  11. are available.

  13. This version is a merged upgrading from the WAIS Toolkit 0.6 to the
  14. "freeWAIS" version 0.3 plus some bug-fixes.

  16. The software may be FTP'd from  emwac.ed.ac.uk  in the directory
  17. pub/waitool. There are three ZIP files, for the different CPU types. 
  18. Be sure you download the right one for your processor.

  20. Source for WAIS Toolkit 0.72 is available in WTSOURCE.ZIP in the same 
  21. directory.

  26. * Bug fixed: when indexing files in current directory with "-r" option and
  27.   wildcard, the WAISINDEX caused "Application Error".

  29. * WAISLOOK will return an more sensible error message for non-existing
  30.   database.

  46.   information.
