- >> Advantages of TXDB, also on Palmtops, HP200LX or Notebooks
- -------------------------------------------------------------
- Other hypertext-systems don't allow to change the text or the
- connections easily, and you have to use a compilier, like for
- Windows Help-Files the HELP-COMPILER.
- -> TXDB is a hypertext-interpreter, you can change the texts,
- -> new connections are very simple to make, no compiler needed,
- -> the format for authoring or reading the text is identical!
- -> own connections in the text = greater motivation for the reader
- Palmtop user: Other hypertext-systems must be controlled
- by a "Mouse", use 80*24 screens and need much more memory.
- -> TXDB is optimised on keyboard-control,
- -> select directly and press a key to continue
- -> Zoom: The HP200LX-Zoom can also be used:
- e.g. texts with 60 columns, 18 rows.
- TXDB is a very compact hypertext-system. The EXE-File uses
- only ca. 70 KB (RAM-Disk) and only 190 KB MS-DOS-Memory are
- needed to start the program, optimal for the HP-200LX!
- Without editor the EXE-file uses only 50 KB (RAM-Disk).
-
- With the ACE Flash-RAM-Card and Stacker, normal hypertexts are
- packed up to 8:1 (!); Stacker is optimal for small text-files!
-
- Examples and international versions
- -----------------------------------
- There are some text-pages included as hypertext-example
- and these can be modified, or deleted if you want to have
- room for your own files at your discretion.
- More examples in CompuServe, GO HPHAND, Library 21,
- NETSEMI.ZIP - Network-Seminar from Dr. K. Terplan,
- ELEKZTG.ZIP - Magazin on disk example.
- TXDB-HP.ZIP - german language version of TXDB
- for other languages please read: TRANSLAT.TXT.
-
- Cursor of the internal Editor
- -----------------------------
- The cursor is in the upper left corner after the editor is
- started, sometimes difficult to see (light conditions, zoom).
- Just move the cursor down and right.
-
- You certainly are able to edit with the HP-200LX built in editor.
- The TXDB editor should only be used for smaller corrections,
- ideas and notes. Longer texts can be edited with any Editor, also
- with your favourite editor or wordprocessor - offline.
-
-
- Problems with too less memory on HP200LX Palmtop computer
- ---------------------------------------------------------
- The function <key-F2> call for the external editor should only be
- used on HP200LX, if the free DOS-Memory is greater than 400 KB
- and if AppMgr (200) has not been loaded in the AUTOEXEC.BAT,
- only MS-DOS is present in the memory. Otherwhiles you use the
- TXDB internal editor with (F9). The external editor is called with
- the DOS-SHELL function.
- Attention(!!),
- too less memory on the HP200LX (e.g. DOS-SHELL-call in order
- to start the external editor) can cause a reset!
- If a start with Ctrl+Sh+On (coldboot) is needed then answer
- on RAM-Disk initiatate with "N" = no!
