  92. This package contains wfListen version 3.00 by Prodigy Computing, an
  93. add-on for WinFax Pro from Delrina Inc. This document contains only a
  94. brief description of the package and its features, along with
  95. instructions for its installation.  Quite detailed documentation is
  96. included in the package, but it is the form of a Windows helpfile and is
  97. more easily read after installation.

  99. If you're tired of shutting down WinFax when you want to dial in to
  100. CompuServe, or if you're tired of not getting faxes because you forgot
  101. to re-enable fax reception, then wfListen may very well solve your
  102. problem.
  103.  
  104. WfListen comes with a comprehensive Windows Help file on disk. Please
  105. consult that helpfile for questions you have about the program. This
  106. file offers introductory documentation only.
  107.  
  108. To find out about wfListen before installing it: using Program Manager's
  109. File | Run | Browse command, navigate to the file wflistn0.hlp and run
  110. it. This gives a complete explanation of what wfListen is for, how it
  111. works, how to install it, how to get support, and how to register it.

  113. WfListen is a shareware program.  This evaluation copy includes all
  114. features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.  You may use it
  115. for up to 60 days, without charge.

  117. If you like the program, and wish to continue its use after this
  118. evaluation period, you are required to pay for the program. Any fee you
  119. may have paid to others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this
  120. evaluation copy was a fee for their copying and distribution services,

  167. ===== Installation =====================================
  168.  
  169. The installation procedure for wfListen is quite simple.  The package
  170. includes a program, SETUP.EXE, which automates the entire process. For a
  171. single-language installation you will need about 610 kilobytes of
  172. available disk space on the hard drive on which you plan to install
  173. wfListen. Allow 230 kilobytes for each additional language.
  174.  
  175. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  176. wfListen.
  177.  
  178. INSTALLING FROM HIGH-DENSITY DISKETTE
  179.  
  180. A high-density diskette is a 3.5" stiffy (either 720Kb or 1.44Mb) or a
  181. 1.2Mb 5.25" floppy disk. If you have received wfListen on low-density
  182. disks (360Kb 5.25" floppies) see the next section.
  183.  
  184. To install from high-density diskette, you need to perform the following
  185. steps.
  186.  
  187.    o  Place the wfListen distribution diskette in the appropriate
  188.       diskette drive.
  189.  
  190.    o  Start Windows if it is not already running.
  191.  
  192.    o  Execute the SETUP.EXE program on the distribution diskette. Use
  193.       Program Manager's File | Run command, type "A:SETUP" in the
  194.       Command Line box, and press Enter.
  195.  
  196.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. The
  197.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  198.       the wfListen files to that directory. It will prompt you to change
  199.       disks if necessary.
  200.  
  201.    o  WfListen Setup will also ask you to select a Program Manager
  202.       group. Specify the group where you keep your communications
  203.       programs. WfListen Setup will make a copy of that group and modify
  204.       the command lines inside it to launch the communications programs
  205.       using wfListen. You can drag the icons back to the original group
  206.       when you are happy that they work properly.
  207.  
  208.    o  If you're not using Windows Program Manager (for example, you
  209.       might be using Norton Desktop for Windows instead) wfListen Setup
  210.       won't be able to create a group as described in the previous step.
  211.       In this case, consult the section Using wfListen in the helpfile
  212.       WFLISTN0.HLP.
  213.  
  214.    o  WfListen Setup will make one entry for wfListen in your WIN.INI
  215.       file. But it will make no other changes; specifically, it will not
  216.       modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS files.

  219. INSTALLING FROM LOW-DENSITY DISKETTE
  220.  
  221. WfListen can not be installed directly from low-density (5.25" 360Kb
  222. floppy) diskettes. If you have obtained wfListen in this format, it will
  223. be in the form of one or more archive files.
  224.  
  225. To install the program, create a directory on your hard disk, for
  226. example C:\TEMPDIR. You can use Windows File Manager's File | Create
  227. Directory command to do this. Then copy ALL of the files (there may be
  228. one or several) from the floppy disk to the directory you have created.
  229. You can use Windows File Manager's File | Copy command to do this. Then
  230. proceed as for "Installing from a Hard Drive" below.

  233. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  234.  
  235. If you downloaded wfListen from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  236. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  237. following steps.
  238.  
  239.    o  Examine the archive files you have received: you will have
  240.       received the base package, WFLIS300. You may also have received
  241.       one or both of the optional files WFLIS30F (French language
  242.       support) and WFLIS30D (German language support). On CompuServe the
  243.       base package is called WFLISN and the optional files are called
  244.       WFLISF and WFLISD. If you are sure that you will only want
  245.       operation in English, you may immediately delete the two optional
  246.       files.
  247.  
  248.    o  If you want French or German language support but you do not have
  249.       the appropriate file, you can install the program for English now
  250.       and add the other language later. You should be able to obtain the
  251.       necessary file from the source where you obtained the base
  252.       package.

  254.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  255.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  256.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  257.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  258.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  259.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  260.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  261.       the package.

  263.    o  Start Windows if it is not already running.

  295. Once you've completed the installation, you should consult the helpfile
  296. (WFLISTN0.HLP) which has been installed. Do this by double-clicking the
  297. "wfListen Help" icon in the new Program Manager group that wfListen
  298. Setup has created. In particular, read at least the "Quick Start"
  299. sections of the file WFLISTN0.HLP. That document will tell you how to
  300. invoke the program, and will give you other information you need to
  301. properly evaluate wfListen.  We hope you find that wfListen makes your
  302. use of communications programs alongside WinFax easier, smoother and
  303. more fun.
