========== SELECT LABEL TYPE ==========
All of the popular label styles are listed here, with a well-known
manufacturers stock number shown to the left of each item.
EXCEPTION 1 ===== SPECIAL FEATURE - 4-UP FANFOLD LABELS =====
You can NOW print those wide dot-matrix labels on your laser printer!
They come in a continuous stream, and you tear them apart into groups
of 4 labels. Once you have used them on your laser printer, you will
never go back to dot-matrix! These are the BEST LOOKING of ALL LABELS,
you owe it to yourself to give this feature a try!
EXCEPTION 2 ===== SPECIAL FEATURE - HOME-MADE POSTCARDS ====
You can NOW print 4 POSTCARDS to a sheet of paper. We suggest using
the Basis 57 (about 38 pound) Business Reply paper, which is the same
thickness as Business Reply cards. Your Mail List or manually entered
addresses will print 4-per page to this paper. You then cut them into
fours using your paper cutter! Great for Business Reply Mail, or sending
the BEST-LOOKING POSTCARDS you have ever seen to your Customers!
POSTCARDS require an HP LaserJet III compatible (or newer) printer.
* help window 5
========== START PRINTING ON WHICH LABEL ==========
When printing on 4-UP FANFOLD labels, and you are printing less than
4 labels, you can save waste by printing only to the bottom-most labels
on the sheet.
You ALWAYS want to have a label in the TOPMOST position on the sheet,
or the sheet is too slick for the printer to feed.
EXAMPLE: TELL SKIP TO START PRINTING ON THE 2nd LABEL IF YOU ARE
GOING TO PRINT 3 LABELS TO A 4-UP SHEET.
EXAMPLE: TELL SKIP TO START PRINTING ON THE 4th LABEL IF YOU ARE
GOING TO PRINT 1 LABEL TO A 4-UP SHEET.
NOTE: You NEVER have to THROW AWAY ANY LABELS when you use this feature!
* help window 6
========== BEGIN PRINTING ==========
1 - PRINT LABELS FROM MEMORY: SKIP will print the addresses which you
have typed in manually.
2 - PRINT FROM A MAIL LIST FILE: SKIP will print addresses from a mail
list which is stored on disk.
3 - PRINT ALL TAGGED RECORDS: SKIP will only print the addresses which
you have manually tagged from the mail list stored on disk.
4 - PRINT (n) COPIES: REPLICATE LABEL(s): This is an important feature.
You can enter 1 label of any type, then make as many copies
of this 1 label as you wish. You could make 10 sheets of this
label if you wish.
If the INCREMENT ATTENTION LINE feature is enabled, you can
use this feature to make SERIAL NUMBERED stickers.
You can also use this feature to make RETURN ADDRESS stickers.
* help window 7
========== BARCODE Enable / Disable ==========
SKIP will BARCODE your labels automatically if you wish. The new 11-Digit
barcodes are the latest thing at the Post Office. SKIP will parse the
barcode from the address on each label.
NOTE: 11-Digit barcodes are 3.05" wide, and SKIP is aware of how wide your
label is. If your label is not wide enough, SKIP will bump down to the
9-Digit, then the 5-Digit, until he finds one which will fit on your label.
* help window 8

========== SELECT YOUR PRINTER PORT ==========
LPT1 = Printer is connected to Port # 1.
This is the normal default for most IBM computers.
If you are in doubt, try this choice first.
LPT2 = Printer is connected to Port # 2.
LPT3 = Printer is connected to Port # 3.
SKIP does not support SERIAL PORTS because Laser Printers
are normally connected to PARALLEL PORTS. Downloading Soft
Fonts via a SERIAL PORT is so slow that it is not realistic.
* help window 11
========== SELECT YOUR PRINTER FEED TYPE ==========
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING CHOICES REFER TO YOUR MANUAL FEED SLOT
LEFT FEED FACE UP: Manual feed is the Left-of-Center type. Ink on top.
LEFT FEED FACE DOWN: Like above, but ink side is the bottom of sheet.
CENTER FEED: Manual feed slot is Centered down the middle.
RIGHT FEED FACE UP: Manual feed is the Right-of-Center type. Ink on top.
RIGHT FEED FACE DOWN: Like above, but ink side is the bottom of the sheet.
HP IV MANUAL FEED: Using an HP LaserJet IV in Manual feed mode.
PLEASE READ: If you are experiencing problems, try each of the above
choices until you find the one which works. The above
choices cover EVERY POSSIBLE TYPE of Laser Printer.
LaserJetIV USERS: If you don't select the HP IV MANUAL FEED option, your
printer will go offline after each page eject.
* help window 12
========== FONT SPACING MENU ==========
FONT SPACING is usually called "LEADING". Leading is the space between
lines of text. 100 percent leading gives you the fonts' built-in spacing
between lines. You, however, may change this number from 50-120 percent
to decrease or increase the leading to suit your tastes.
IF your are using an INTERNAL (built-in to printer) FONT, SKIP has
to make a guess about the height of each line (to calculate the
default spacing). Use this option to touch-up interline spacing
should SKIP guess wrong on your internal fonts' size.
* help window 13
========== SET FONT SPACING ==========
Use this menu to select which Soft Font you want to change the
interline spacing for.
* help window 14
========== PCX FILE MENU ========
You may place up to FOUR Black and White PCX files on each label.
Use this menu to select or remove your PCX files.
Notice that you can ask the program to print a sample of all PCX
files, so that you can see what they are going to look like.
SKIP will only look for PCX files which are in HIS OWN DIRECTORY.
SKIP can only print Black and White PCX files, so if you make your
own, be sure to make them in Black and White.
NOTE: Laser printers print at 300 dots per inch.
If you want to create a .PCX picture that is 1 inch tall and
1 inch wide when it prints to your Laser Printer,
make your .PCX picture 300 by 300 dots.
* help window 15
========== SELECT LABEL FONTS ==========
Use this menu to select your label fonts. The FIRST LINE of any
address can be printed using a different font than the remainder
of the address.
Downloadable soft fonts are fonts on disk.
Internal soft fonts are fonts which are already inside your printer.
SKIP can print a sample of all fonts on disk.
SKIP can not print a sample of your printers' resident fonts, you
can only do that from the front panel of your laser printer.
* help window 16
========== SELECT DOWNLOADABLE OR INTERNAL FONT ==========
Downloadable soft fonts are fonts on disk.
Internal soft fonts are fonts which are already inside your printer.
NOTE ABOUT USING YOUR PRINTERS' INTERNAL FONTS:
When you do a "PRINT FONTS TEST" from the front panel of your
printer, the resulting printout will normally show you the ESCAPE
codes your printer needs in order to select each internal font.
This is an ADVANCED FEATURE intended for very experienced laser
printer users only.

===== USE THIS OPTION to EXACTLY ALIGN YOUR LABEL PRINTING. =====
Most Laser Printer Paper Feed paths are not exactly aligned when the
printer is manufactured. You will enjoy this advanced feature for
correcting any mis-alignment in your paper feed path.
PRINT ALIGNMENT SHEET: Use this option to print an alignment sheet
on your printer. Follow the instructions printed on that sheet to
compensate for any mis-alignment in your printer paper feed path.
NOTE: use a FULL 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper for this test.
PRINT ADJUSTED SHEET: Use this option to VERIFY that you have set
your HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL adjustment numbers correctly. (optional)
ENTER your HORIZONTAL correction value: range -120 to +120 pixels.
ENTER your VERTICAL correction value: range -120 to +120 pixels.
RESET both to ZERO: Use this option to quickly set both the HORIZONTAL
and VERTICAL correction values to ZERO. (optional)
NOTE: Once you have aligned your printer and set your correction values
up for your particular printer, you shouldn't RESET them back to ZERO.
* help window 18
========== 20 SETUPS MENU ==========
SKIP allows you to save and recall up to 20 pre-programmed setups.
You want to use these to save complicated setups which took you a lot
of time to create.
Each time you QUIT the program and restart it, the setup you were using
when you quit will be active.
* help window 19
========== SETUP MENU ==========
Use this menu to change an existing setup, or save a new setup.
* help window 20
========== I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT ==========
ERASE: ERASE addresses in memory, everything printed fine.
DON'T ERASE: Don't ERASE addresses in memory I'm not finished.
SAVE TO NEW: SAVE the addresses in memory to a NEW Mail List file.
SKIP will ask you for a name to give this new file,
create the file, and write these addresses into the
new file. SKIP can not alphabetize your records
when using this option.
APPEND TO OLD: SKIP will add these addresses to an existing Mail
List file. SKIP will insert the records alphabetically
or by date, whichever option your Mail List INSERT
option is currently set to.
* help window 21
========== UNTAG ALL TAGGED RECORDS ==========
I need to know if you want to UNTAG all TAGGED records at this time.
* help window 22
========== EDIT ADDRESS IN MEMORY ==========
You have a choice to edit the most recently entered address, or edit
any address which you have typed into memory.
* help window 23
========== SIMPLE OR DETAILED FONT SAMPLE ==========
DETAILED: Print SEVERAL LINES of each font, in order to get a very
good idea of what the font will look like.
SIMPLE: Print only ONE LINE of each font, so as to get the maximum
number of sample fonts on each sheet of paper.
NOTE: You need an HP LaserJet III compatible (or newer) Laser Printer
to print the SIMPLE font samples.
This is because the older Laser Printers can only print up to 16
fonts on 1 sheet of paper, and the SIMPLE sample prints over 40
font samples on 1 sheet of paper.
LaserJet III's and newer can print a practically unlimited number
of fonts on 1 sheet of paper.
* help window 24
========== FIMCODES MENU ==========
NOTE: This option is only available when printing POSTCARDS.
FIMCODES are the BLACK BARS which print to the left of the STAMP area.
they are used by the automatic sorting machines at the Post Office.
SKIP can print THREE TYPES of FIMCODES to your POSTCARDS.
NO FIMCODES - SKIP will not print FIMCODES on your POSTCARDS.
REGULAR MAIL - SKIP will print the STANDARD FIMCODE A onto
each pre-barcoded POSTCARD.
No permit is required to use this option.
BUSINESS REPLY MAIL - SKIP will print a BUSINESS REPLY FIMCODE
onto each POSTCARD.
An official US POST OFFICE permit is REQUIRED
to use this feature.
