  8.                           INTRODUCTION
  9.  
  10. PM Attrib brings the functionality of the DOS and OS/2 ATTRIB.EXE
  11. command to the OS/2 Workplace Shell.  Why PM Attrib?  If you've ever
  12. copied files from a CD Rom using the OS/2 Workplace Shell, then you have
  13. all ready seen why.  OS/2, in its infinte wisdom, perserves the
  14. read-only attribute of the files copied from the CD.  This is nice, but
  15. makes some files (.DLLs for example) rather unusable.

  17. Enter PM Attrib.  Now, rather than shelling out to the command line to
  18. run ATTRIB.EXE, you can modify attributes of many files at once using
  19. PM and Drag and Drop.  Simply drop any file or directory on the Drop
  20. Zone and the attributes checked/unchecked will become set/clear on that
  21. file or directory.  You can even set/clear attributes of subdirectories
  22. of a dropped directory.  In other words, you can set/clear attributes of
  23. an entire directory structure by simply dropping the first level folder
  24. onto the Drop Zone.

  26.                           ARCHIVE CONTENTS

  28. There are two PM Attrib archives floating around cyberspace.  One is
  29. called PMATTR10.ZIP and the other is called PMATNO10.ZIP.  The latter is
  30. significantly smaller, and for good reason.  PM Attrib was created by 
  31. Watcom's VX-Rexx version 2.0a ((c) Watcom International).  The 
  32. PMATTR10.ZIP version of PM Attrib includes the VROBJ.DLL file from 
  33. VX-Rexx 2.0a that allows VX-Rexx programs to run.  The smaller archive 
  34. does not contain this file.  Both archives are made available so that 
  35. users who already possess a copy of this file need not spend extra time 
  36. downloading it.  Please feel free to share PM Attrib with other people 
  37. (via BBSs, online services, whatever), but please distribute both 
  38. archives to any one site (see DISTRIBUTION below).

  58.                             INSTALLATION
  59.  
  60. To install, simply unpack this archive into any directory (all files
  61. need to reside in the same directory), and type OBJECT from the directory
  62. PM Attrib is installed into.  Insure that VROBJ.DLL is either in this
  63. directory or in the LIBPATH.

  65. This program requires that you have REXX support installed on your OS/2 
  66. system.  If you do *NOT* have REXX installed, go to the System Setup 
  67. folder and choose Selective Install.  Press Enter to clear the System
  68. Configuration window, this will cause you to be presented with the OS/2 
  69. Setup and Installation window.  From here, place a check mark next to 
  70. the item marked REXX and press Install.  Follow the prompts to finish 
  71. installing REXX.

  82. PM Attrib is being distributed as shareware, and is fully Copyrighted
  83. (c) by Larry R. Tubbs Jr..  You are given license to use this product
  84. for 60 days after which time you are expected to register to continue
  85. using the product. PM Attrib is *NOT* crippled in any way.  Also, it
  86. is not set to 'drop dead' after a specified number of days.  It is a
  87. complete, working copy of PM Attrib.  The only difference between the 
  88. shareware version and the registered version is that the shareware
  89. version has the word "Unregistered" after the name PM Attrib in the
  90. Product Information dialog box.

  92. For information on registration, choose Product Information from the
  93. Help menu, and press the Order Form button.  The cost is very resonable,
  94. so please support the shareware concept and the author by registering. 
  95. This will insure that fine products like this one will continue to
  96. appear on BBSs and FTP sites everywhere.
