  1. The Windows NT Evaluation Guide - Installation
  2.  
  3. You can run The Windows NT Evaluation Guide using File Manager or you can
  4. create a program group for it in Program Manager.

  6. File Manager

  9. 1. Open File Manager and choose the directory that you copied the Help files
  10.    to. Make sure that you have nteval.hlp and sp.hlp in this directory.
  11. 2. Launch the file nteval.hlp, either by selecting it from the file list
  12.    and pressing ENTER, or by double-clicking on it.
  13.    - The Windows NT Evaluation Guide will start and you can follow the
  14.      on-line instructions.

  16. Program Manager

  19. 1. Ensure that both nteval.hlp and sp.hlp are in the same directory.
  20. 2. Open Program Manager and choose FILE/NEW.
  21.    - The New Program Object dialog will appear.
  22. 3. Choose Program Group and click on OK.
  23.    - The Program Group Properties dialog will appear.
  24. 4. Type in a description for the group and click OK.
  25.    - A new group will appear with your description in the title bar.
  26. 5. Choose FILE/NEW.
  27.    - The New Program Object dialog will appear.
  28. 6. Choose Program Item and click OK.
  29.    - The Program Item Properties dialog will appear.
  30. 7. Type: "The Windows NT Evaluation Guide" into the Description box.
  31. 8. Click on the Browse button.
  32.    - The Browse dialog will appear.
  33. 9. Navigate to the directory where you saved the two help files. If the
  34.    files do not appear in the list box, change the List Files of Type box
  35.    to All Files (*.*).
  36.    - The files nteval.hlp and sp.hlp will appear in the file list box.
  37. 10. Select nteval.hlp from the file list and click OK.
  38.    - You will return to the Program Item Properties dialog.
  39. 11. Click OK.
  40.    - A new Program Item will appear called The Windows NT Evaluation Guide.
  41. 12. Start The Windows NT Evaluation Guide by double-clicking on the new
  42.     Program Item and follow the on-line instructions.

  44. SPECIAL NOTE FOR WINDOWS NT USERS
  45. ---------------------------------

  47. The Windows NT Evaluation Guide was designed to work with the Windows 3.1
  48. Help engine. If you run The Guide under Windows NT, you may see the error
  49. "Routine Not Found". To correct this error edit the command line for the
  50. Program Item to read "winhelp <path>\nteval.hlp", where <path> is the
  51. directory path you chose for the two help files. You can also run winhelp
  52. using the Program Manager or File Manager (FILE/RUN) and load nteval.hlp
  53. from the Help program using FILE/OPEN.
