THIS IS AN UPDATE. IT REPLACES KNITWARE SWEATER DESIGN version 1.10.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
LONG DESCRIPTION:
KNITWARE SWEATER DESIGN allows a hand or machine knitter to custom design a
sweater, to revise and change the design, to use any type of yarn knit to any
gauge, and to print the pattern from which they will knit the design. It
removes the tedium of, and errors from, calculating adjustments for different
yarns, sizes, measurements, or gauges. The program includes a feature to
calculate the amount of yarn required to knit the sweater. Metric (cm) or
imperial (inches) units can be used.
The program allows the user to design a sweater in a variety of styles and
sizes. Pattern styles include pullovers or cardigans; in round, scoop, boat,
square or V necklines; with single band, double band, rolled edge, cowl,
turtleneck or shawl collars. Also included are: raglan, set-in, and drop
shoulder styles, full or 3/4 length sleeves, variable body lengths, and
variable ease style.
Measurement data is included for 28 standard sizes for men, women and
children. Any measurement can be changed, to suit the individual knitter's
requirements. Once a pattern has been designed, the pattern data is saved,
and can be modified and/or re-printed at any time. Up to 100 patterns can be
on file at one time, and a utility is provided to delete unwanted patterns.
The pattern instructions are for a stocking stitch body with ribbed trim.
Different pattern instructions are given for hand knitters and for machine
knitters. A simple knitting frame is assumed, although owners of punchcard
or electronic machines may also use the program. There is also an option for
a hand knit rib on a machine knit body.
The program is designed for both the novice and experienced computer user.
There is extensive use of menus for display and input, colour support, plus
menu level and on-line help facilities. There is a comprehensive user
manual, which provides step by step assistance to the new user, and a useful
reference with hints and techniques for those who are more familiar with the
program.
