  15.     A.  Installation as a non-boot device using Windows NT Setup program
  16.  
  17.     1.  Following hardware installation, run the Windows NT Setup program
  18.     from within the Main program group.  Select Options from the Menu.  A
  19.     pop-up menu will appear.  From the pop-up menu, choose Add/Remove SCSI
  20.     Adapters.  A dialog box titled SCSI Adapter Setup will appear on the
  21.     screen.  If the AHA-274x / AIC-7770 driver is already installed remove
  22.     it first, then choose Add.  The AHA-274x / AIC-7770 driver is already
  23.     installed if it appears    in the list.  Ignore any warnings, if any, and
  24.     select OK.  Another    dialog box will appear titled Select SCSI Adapter
  25.     Option.  From the scroll window titled Adapter:, select "Other(Requires
  26.     a disk from the hardware manufacturer)".  A new dialog box will appear
  27.     asking for the path to the drivers.  Specify the path to the AHA-274x /
  28.     AIC-7770 driver.  For example, if drive a: is the floppy drive used for
  29.     installation, type:

  31.         a:\winnt
  32.  
  33.     Choose "2740 / AIC 777x"" from the list.  Choose Install from the next
  34.     dialog.  Follow the succeeding instructions.  If the AHA-274x / AIC-777x
  35.     is also a boot device, do step B before rebooting.

  39.     B.  Installation as a Boot Device

  41.     If the AHA-274x / AIC-7770 is used as a boot device, follow the previous
  42.     installation instructions in A. then do the following:

  45.         1. Use ATTRIB.EXE to change the attribute of NTBOOTDD.SYS in the
  46.         root directory of the boot drive using the following command in DOS
  47.         box:
  48.  
  49.            ATTRIB -R -H -S NTBOOTDD.SYS
  50.  
  51.         2. Copy the new ARROW.SYS over to NTBOOTDD.SYS.
  52.  
  53.         3. Change the attribute of NTBOOTDD.SYS back by using ATTRIB.EXE.

  55.         ATTRIB +R +H +S NTBOOTDD.SYS

  59.     C.  Fresh Installation or Reinstallation
  60.  
  61.     If installing Windows NT into a new machine or reinstalling NT over
  62.     an existing system, then follow these steps:
  63.  
  64.         1. Delete ARROW.SYS from NT installation diskette which came from
  65.         Microsoft.  You may want to backup the original diskette before
  66.         deleting ARROW.SYS.
  67.  
  68.         2. Follow the regular NT installation procedures and select CUSTOM
  69.         setup. The installation program scans your system for SCSI host 
  70.         adapters and displays a list of recognized adapters. In most
  71.         cases, the list will read "(none)". Press S to configure additional
  72.         SCSI adapters. The Windows NT installer will display a list of 
  73.         options, select "Other (Requires disk provided by a hardware 
  74.         manufacturer)". The installation program will prompt you to insert 
  75.         a disk into drive A:. Insert the 7700 Family Manger Set diskette
  76.         (this disk) into drive A: and press enter. A window will appear that 
  77.         displays "Adaptec 2740 / AIC 777x". Press ENTER to select this 
  78.         driver and continue with the Windows NT installation.
