  12.    CHEX-MASTER is a derivative of DBASE III, compiled with CLIPPER. As such, 
  13.    though it is a *STAND-ALONE* package, all data files can be manipulated 
  14.    with DBASE III. It will run on any 100% compatible IBM XT/AT/386/486 class
  15.    computer, and runs  under PC/MS-DOS Versions 3.0 to 6.0. 640 K of memory
  16.    (RAM) is required. Before running CHEX-MASTER, it is STRONGLY suggested
  17.    that all TSR's (if installed) be removed, as CHEX-MASTER needs the recom-
  18.    mended amount of memory FOR ITSELF in order to run properly ! A hard disk
  19.    is required. A DISK-CACHING program  is  *HIGHLY* recommended  ! A color
  20.    monitor (CGA, EGA, preferably VGA) greatly improves  the user interface, 
  21.    though a HERCULES GRAPHICS monochrome is quite usable.

  30.    CHEX - MASTER is a Check-book/Budget Management  System with an  OPTIONAL  
  31.    Small Business single entry Accounting/Bookkeeping module. It was designed  
  32.    to give the  NOVICE  computer user a simple, yet  powerful way to manage  
  33.    their household Financial/Checking/Budget needs by simply entering check  
  34.    and  deposit  information into the  computer. By the way, you  computer   
  35.    EXPERTS can use it also !!! CHEX - MASTER was  designed with many  CUSTOM  
  36.    FEATURES, allowing it to be  tailored (via the SETUP screen) to  operate  
  37.    according to the CUSTOMERS desires !!!

  39.    It is also excellent for the person desiring a VERY simple-to-use book- 
  40.    keeping system for a small HOME business. This system will allow them to  
  41.    manage their business books simply through the entering of normal check 
  42.    and deposit information.

  51.      Installation of this program is VERY simple. When you are finished  
  52.      reading this introduction, you will be presented with the option to  
  53.      begin the automatic installation. If you reply "YES", a sub-directory 
  54.      \CHEXMSTR will be created on your hard disk, and the compressed .ZIP 
  55.      files will be expanded into it. You will then start the CHEX-MASTER 
  56.      program. If CHEX-MASTER was previously installed, you will be given
  57.      the option to save your DATA files ! When you are ready, just sit back 
  58.      and get ready to TAKE FINANCIAL CONTROL !!

  62.    When the Configuration and Installation phase is over, you will be in
  63.    MENU 2. At this point, it would be a VERY GOOD idea to either print out
  64.    the USER's MANUAL or read it ON-SCREEN. If you opt to PRINT, there will
  65.    be [ 15 ] PAGES of output. You will also note that the "SETUP" option
  66.    is highlighted. After reading the USER's MANUAL, you will no doubt want
  67.    to select this option to set up your system. **** NOTE **** If an  
  68.    ACCOUNT NUMBER is assigned, the system opens with a screen requesting
  69.    it's entry. Otherwise, the system starts at the MAIN MENU (Menu #1).

  75.    @@@@@@ PLEASE NOTE @@@@@@ :  There are two GRAPHICS screens when CHEX-
  76.    MASTER is first starting up, and one when it is ending. If your mono-
  77.    chrome monitor WILL NOT display these, there is an option on the MENU 1
  78.    screen to DISABLE graphics. This screen also allows you the option of
  79.    TURNING OFF the SOUND.

  86.    any further is to make BACKUP COPIES of the original disk(s) using
  87.    the DOS Copy or Xcopy command. Then, put the originals in a SAFE
