  20. DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------------
  21. KIDSCON ver 5.0 (Kids Concentration) is a game that is based on the
  22. old game of Concentration.  This program was designed with kids in
  23. mind to help them develop their concentration skills, hand-eye
  24. coordination (via the mouse), while learning about the alphabet,
  25. numbers, and colors. The program contains five different matching
  26. games for variety, each supporting three levels of difficulty.  A
  27. pleasant female voice is used throughout, along with actual animal
  28. sounds, and other sound effects.

  30. PREVIOUS INSTALLATION ----------------------------------------------
  31. If you have a previously installed version of KIDSCON, (ver 4.1 or
  32. lower), you should delete all the previous installed files before
  33. you install this new version. You can do this by deleting the
  34. KIDSCON directory which will delete all files contained within the
  35. directory (KIDSCON.EXE, README.TXT, and all 82 KC_?????.WAV files),
  36. as they are no longer required.

  38. If you have registered a previous version, you DO NOT have to
  39. register again.

  41. INSTALLING KIDSCON -------------------------------------------------
  42.  
  43. These files have been compress with PKZIP 2.04g.  To extract them,
  44. you must use PKUNZIP 2.04g, or some other compatible extracting utility.
  45.  
  46. There are two zip files, KC_DISK1.ZIP and KC_DISK2.ZIP
  47.  
  48. KC_DISK1.ZIP extracts   SETUP.EXE       VBRUN300.DL_    KIDSCON.EX_     
  49. (10 files)              SETUP.LST       DDEML.DL_       THREED.VB_
  50.             SETUP1.EX_      VER.DL_         KC_ALP.VB_
  51.             SETUPKIT.DL_
  52.  
  53. KC_DISK2.ZIP extracts   KC_MAT.VB_      KC_PRO.VB_      README.TX_
  54. (5 files)               KC_NUM.VB_      KC_MNU.SN_

  56. There are two methods available for installation: 
  57.  
  58. TO CREATE INSTALL DISKETTES: (via the File Manager)
  59.  
  60. 1-You will need two 3.5", 1.44 mb, preformatted diskettes.
  61. 2-Label the 1st diskette as "KIDSCON, ver 5.0, Disk1", and the 2nd
  62.   diskette as "KIDSCON, ver 5.0, Disk2".
  63. 3-Insert the 1st diskette.  Select the directory where KC_DISK1.ZIP
  64.   exist.  Select the File menu, and choose Run.  Type at the command
  65.   line "PKUNZIP KC_DISK1 A:\" and click OK.  Windows will go to DOS
  66.   to extract the 10 files as listed above.  This will create the 1st
  67.   installation diskette.
  68. 4-Insert the 2nd diskette. Select the directory where KC_DISK2.ZIP
  69.   exist.  Select the File menu, and choose Run.  Type at the command
  70.   line "PKUNZIP KC_DISK2 A:\" and click OK.  Windows will go to DOS
  71.   to extract the 5 files as listed above.  This will create the 2nd
  72.   installation diskette.
  73. 5-To install the KidsCon program, insert disk 1 in drive A: and select
  74.   drive icon A:.  Double-click on "SETUP.EXE", and then follow the
  75.   instructions provided.  
  76. 6-After you have successfully installed the KIDSCON program from the
  77.   setup diskettes that were created, you should delete KIDCON50.ZIP,
  78.   KC_DISK1.ZIP, KC_DISK2.ZIP, and INSTALL.TXT, from your hard drive,
  79.   as they are no longer required.

  81. TO INSTALL DIRECTLY FROM THE HARD DISK: (via the File Manager)
  82.  
  83. 1-Create a working directory called KCTEMP and move KIDCON50.ZIP,
  84.   KC_DISK1.ZIP, KC_DISK2.ZIP, and INSTALL.TXT to this directory.
  85. 2-Select the KCTEMP directory.  Select the File menu, and choose
  86.   Run.  Type at the command line "PKUNZIP KC_DISK1" and click OK.
  87.   Windows will go to DOS to extract the 10 files as listed above.
  88.   When you return back to the File Manager, click on the drive icon
  89.   where the KCTEMP directory exist to update the file listing.
  90. 3-Select the KCTEMP directory.  Select the File menu, and choose
  91.   Run.  Type at the command line "PKUNZIP KC_DISK2" and click OK.
  92.   Windows will go to DOS to extract the 5 files as listed above.
  93.   When you return back to the File Manager, click on the drive icon
  94.   where the KCTEMP directory exist to update the file listing.
  95. 4-To install the KidsCon program, select the KCTEMP directory where
  96.   you expanded the files.  Double-click on "SETUP.EXE", and then
  97.   follow the instructions provided.  
  98. 5-After you have successfully installed the KIDSCON program, you
  99.   should delete all the files in the working directory.  You can do
  100.   this by deleting the KCTEMP directory which will delete all the
  101.   files contained within this directory (KIDCON50.ZIP, KC_DISK1.ZIP,
  102.   KC_DISK2.ZIP, INSTALL.TXT, and all the files extracted from
  103.   KC_DISK1.ZIP and KC_DISK2.ZIP, as listed above), as they are no
  104.   longer required.

  116. VBRUN300.DLL and THREED.VBX will be installed in your \windows
  117. \system directory if they do not exist, or if the existing installed
  118. files are not current versions.  All other files are installed in
  119. the selected installation directory.

  121. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ------------------------------------------------
  122. 386 or better PC
  123. 4 meg RAM or better
  124. Microsoft Windows 3.1 and a mouse
  125. VGA or SVGA monitor
  126. soundcard recommended (such as Sound Blaster or compatible)
  127. 2.5 meg of free disk space for program files

  129. UNINSTALLING KIDSCON -----------------------------------------------
  130. Delete the program KIDSCON.EXE and support files KC_MAT.VBX,
  131. KC_ALP.VBX, KC_NUM.VBX, KC_PRO.VBX, KC_MNU.SND, and README.TXT.  You
  132. can do this by deleting the KIDSCON directory which will delete all
  133. files contained within the directory. DO NOT delete VBRUN300.DLL and
  134. THREED.VBX from your windows\system directory, as these may be used
  135. by other applications you have installed.
