  8. Description             : This DOOM2, level 1 PWAD is the net result of
  9.                           playing and studying dozens of other levels.  I 
  10.                           incorporated all my favorite tricks and traps into 
  11.                           this one, three key level.
  12.  
  13.                           WAOTD.WAD is designed as a mini-game, taking you
  14.                           from pistol to BFG 9000.  All the bad guys are here
  15.                           as well as just enough power-ups and ammo to get
  16.                           you through the level.  One of the frustrating
  17.                           aspects of this level is that each goal -- ending,
  18.                           keys, etc. are in plain sight -- but you have to
  19.                           deduce how to "get there from here" while fighting
  20.                           off the strategically place enemies.  You need to
  21.                           be observant as well as vigilant, and there is
  22.                           a maze problem that will challenge you too.

  24.                           I have included a demo file, HOW2.LMP, that shows
  25.                           the entire level played without cheating.  It took
  26.                           me over 17 minutes to make it, and I know all the
  27.                           tricks!  To view it be sure that WAOTD.WAD
  28.                           and HOW2.LMP are both unzipped into your DOOM2
  29.                           sub-directory. Then use the following DOS command:
  30.                           
  31.                           doom2 -file WAOTD.WAD -playdemo how2
  32.                           
  33.                           This level should provide you with many hours of 
  34.                           intense action!

  36.                           Additional Credits to   : My kids, Megan, Joe, Mike
  37.                           and Steven who put in a lot of test-play time and 
  38.                           helped me root out the bugs.  I think we got them 
  39.                           all.  I will say that most of the "bugs" turned
  40.                           out to be problems with the DoomCad node builder,
  41.                           because after processing the wad with WARM 1.3 they
  42.                           disappeared.

  86. UnZip WAOTD.ZIP and put WAOTD.WAD into your DOOM2 sub-directory.
  87. At the DOS prompt type:

  89.                          DOOM2 -FILE WAOTD.WAD

  91. and press enter; select your difficulty level and begin. I recommend you 
  92. set your gamma correction, (F11 key), to as low a setting as you're 
  93. comfortable with to keep with the spirit of the level! This WILL NOT 
  94. permanently modify your game.  It will only temporarily replace your level 1 
  95. with the WAOTD level.  Enjoy!
