Title :Death Team

Description :This is a deathtag deathmatch game. You have two
teams - Blue and Red. The GREEN and GREY (indigo)
players form the blue team, the BROWN and RED players
form the red team.
The level is split into three general sections - the
blue area, the red area, and the arena. From the
arena there are arrows pointing towards both the blue
and red areas.
This game is not just another 'rack up those frags'
style deathmatch game. The idea is not to hunt down
the other players, but to be the first team to score
ten points. There is a scoreboard in the main arena
area which keeps track of the number of points that
each team currently has.
To score a point, one of your players has to infiltrate
the enemy fort and run down the target corridor. For
the following examples, we'll pretend that you're on
the red team:
You have two options - either one person can
stay behind and defend your home fort (red) and
one person can go off and assault the blue fort,
or both players can go off and assault the blue
fort together.
There is a risk in both players going off
together - you will be leaving your home
fort undefended. However, in the enemy fort
there is a switch that you can walk over
when pressed - this will close a door in the
target corridor in your home fort (for 30
seconds) which will prevent the enemy from
scoring while you're not there. The trick is
for both of your players to reach the enemy
fort before they reach yours.
Once you overpower the enemy's fort one of your
players can run down the target corridor (the
wooden doorway marked with banners and torches
on either side - only one player can run down
the corridor at a time as the floor raises
just behind them and crushes the second player
if he tries to run in as well). This is to
prevent a team cheating by scoring two points
at a time. Once this crushing floor has raised,
you must press your team's switch in the main
arena area to lower it again.
So if you were red, this is one possible scenario:
As soon as you start, your buddy goes off to
your home fort to defend it against the blue team.
You run as fast as you can towards the blue
fort, picking up as many weapons / etc as you can.
You reach the blue fort, and find no-one there, so you
quickly press the red switch and run over it to seal
off the target corridor in your home fort for 30
seconds.
You open the door to the target corridor and run down
it (score one point red team) to get teleported back
to the front of your home fort.
Once you get there, you find that both of the blue team
members are launching a full assault on your buddy.
He lets out a dying scream as they pump him full of
lead, and one of them turn to take care of you while
the other one heads towards the target corridor.
Fortunately you picked up a chain gun somewhere and you
finish off the first of the blue team members simply
because you're better than him.
Next you turn to face the second blue team member who's
feeling rather frustrated as he's found out there's a
second door blocking the entrance to the target corridor
which he can't open. He's also feeling frustrated
because he used the last of his plasma killing your
buddy, so he turns around and starts shooting you with
his pistol.
This doesn't bother you much as you let him have the
full spread of your chaingun. Scratch one more player.
Next, you run back to the arena area and on your way
you pass your resurrected buddy who's picked up the
plasma gun and is on their way back to defend your fort.
You reach the arena and press the red button which
will lower the crushing floor in your target corridor
therefore allowing you to go and score another point.
You quickly decide to check the scoreboard and notice
that the score is RED - 1, BLUE - still to score, and
then continue your way to the blue fort.
Of course this is just one possible scenario - the level is
quite huge and there are lots of places to visit. Originally
I was going to make the winner first to five, but I think
that first to ten allows for more possibilities.

* Play Information *
Game : DOOM 2
Episode and Level # : MAP 01
Single Player : No (stupid)
Cooperative 2-4 Player : No (very stupid)
Deathmatch 2-3 Player : No (well, if you want to play it as a normal
deathmatch that's fine with me)
Deathtag 4 Player : YES
Difficulty Settings : No
New Sounds : YES
New Graphics : YES
New Music : No
Demos Replaced : None - you don't see demos in multiplayer mode anyway
* Construction *
Base : New level from scratch
Time : At least 80 hours - I had to learn how to use all
the doom utils.
Editor(s) used : DEU 5.3b9, BSP 1.2x, DEUTEX, Paint Shop Pro Shareware
Known Bugs : NONE - although a couple of the rooms with high
detail run a bit slow, but in network mode the level
runs surprisingly fast considering how big it is - I
think it might have something to do with the linear
design of it (the level is stretched out west to east,
therefore not much of it has load when you're in any
particular area).
