This file is README.1ST. It contains information about
MouSing and how to install it. Please read this file
first!
MouSing is a sound generator program for Windows,
using the Wave capabilities of your sound card.
Volume and pitch are controlled by the mouse. The
sound resembles a musical instrument known as the
Theremin.
MouSing is shareware, which means try-before-you-buy.
It is not free. If you like the program, be sure to
read the on-line help information about REGISTRATION
after installing this fully working demo.
I. Distribution Files
------------------------
You may have received MouSing in one of two forms:
A) You have the unregistered shareware version in the
form of .ZIP file MOUSNG20.ZIP from a bulletin board,
Internet, CDROM, etc. You should know how to unzip
the file with PKUNZIP.EXE.
B) You have a floppy disk with several files, most in
compressed format.
If you have (A), please make sure the ZIP files are unzipped
in a single directory before installation.
II. Installing MouSing
---------------------------
The MouSing file set includes a program named SETUP.EXE
used for installation.
If your distibution files are on a floppy disk in drive A:
1) Press the Start button on the Win95 task bar.
2) Click on the "Run..." item in "Start" menu.
3) In the command box type
A:\SETUP
(If your floppy drive is different than A:,
substitute the appropriate name.)
4) Click on OK
(If you unzipped the zipped file into a temporary directory, for
instance, C:\TMP, then do the same but with the command
C:\TMP\SETUP )
The setup program will then prompt you for everything necessary
to install the program.
III. Getting started
----------------------
After installation, go ahead and click the Play button. Listen
for sound output and adjust the Volume slider control.
If you don't hear any sounds, try these steps:
Use another Windows application, such as Media Player which comes with
Windows, to play a .WAV file. If you don't hear any sounds,
chances are your sound card is not set up correctly. Refer to your
sound card documentation.
If problems continue, refer to the Troubleshooting help topic
in MouSing's on-line help.
