  6. Video Poker v2.0 is a card game based on the video poker gambling machines
  7. found in Las Vegas & Reno, as well as the various hand held games. I got
  8. hooked on this kind game when I was in Reno at New Year's, and felt that
  9. there must be a cheaper alternative.  Video Poker for Windows 2.0 is that
  10. alternative, and has become one of the most addicting card games I've ever
  11. played.

  13. Video Poker for Windows 2.0 plays both the standard Jacks or Better game,
  14. as well as the more interesting (in my opinion, anyway) Deuces Wild.

  16. UPDATE FROM VERSION 1.0:
  17.     This release is version 2.0, and replaces VIDPOKER.ZIP that is
  18.     currently distributed.  This version includes many upgrades and
  19.     improvements, including:
  20.     - a MUCH "flashier" look and feel, with a new and colorful
  21.       game screen.
  22.     - clickable cards, rather than the buttons in the previous version.
  23.     - options for clicking the cards the player wants to hold (similar
  24.       to the real video poker machines) or clicking the cards to discard.
  25.     - the player can play with the mouse or with the keyboard, and can
  26.       configure which keys to use.
  27.     - a FULL Windows help file that explains the game as well as how to
  28.       score poker hands.  Even people who've never played poker can
  29.       learn to play after reading this help file.
  30.     - a statistics screen that keeps track of hands played/won and money
  31.       spent/won, with an option to reset.
  32.     - a high score display to give the player something to beat, with an
  33.       option to reset.
  34.     - a "boss mode" to quickly minimize the game or quit entirely during
  35.       those "inconvienient moments".  This has become a favorite option
  36.       with the beta testers.
  37.     - the addition of the game Deuces Wild.

  39. INSTALLATION:
  40.      To install Video Poker for Windows 2.0, choose FILE | RUN on the
  41.      Windows menu, and run the INSTALL.EXE file.  This will prompt you for
  42.      a directory to put Video Poker into, and will set up Video Poker for
  43.      you.  You will also have the option of allowing the install to create
  44.      the program group and icon for you.  THIS IS RECOMMENDED.  It's tough
  45.      to play the game without an icon available...

  47. SHAREWARE RELEASE:
  48.      This game is being released as Shareware, and I am asking $10 to
  49.      register.  Please feel free to distribute this game, provided that ALL
  50.      copies contain ALL the original files.  If this game is to be included
  51.      in any shareware compilations, I only ask that I be informed of this.
