ANIMOTION DEBUTS MCS SOUNDTRAK, AUDIO FILE EDITOR FOR PCS
USES QSOUND'S VIRTUAL AUDIO -- BRINGS 3-D SOUND TO AUDIO CLIPS
Animotion Exclusive Audio Software Licensee for QSound's
Patented Multidimensional Sound Technology
BIRMINGHAM, AL., November 2, 1993 -- Animotion Development Corporation
today announced MCS SoundTrak (MSRP $59.95), the newest member of the popular
MCS line of audioware utilities for PCs running Microsoft Windows. A sound
editing, production and playback utility featuring sophisticated audio special
effects, powerful tools and 3-D sound, MCS SoundTrak is designed for computer
users who are adding multimedia capabilities to their systems. MCS SoundTrak
will be available in late March (1994) directly from Animotion, at computer
and software retail outlets, and through mass merchandisers and superstores.
Animotion and QSound Labs, Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, Canada also unveiled
today a licensing agreement under which Animotion has exclusively licensed the
QSound Virtual Audio process for use in their existing and future audio
editing products. The term of this exclusive license is three years.
"This agreement means that Animotion will be the only publisher of software
audio utilities for PCs that can offer users this technology." said Tom
Baggett, Animotion's President, "Now, with MCS SoundTrak audio editing and
production software, Windows users can create their own virtual listening
space, add special effects to audio productions, add stunning big-screen
sound to their existing clips, and process sound files off-line using MCS
SoundTrak."
MCS Soundtrak with QSound creates the illusion of audio originating at
specific points that users control. Multiple clips can be "positioned" and
combined to create a complete virtual listening environment.
MCS SoundTrak also features sophisticated chorusing, flanging, and echoing
of audio as well as simple cut-and-paste operations. Using MCS Soundtrak, it
will be possible to convert samples from mono to stereo; change sampling
rates; pan, fade or amplify volume levels; and even reverse the sample and play
it backwards.
QSound provides MCS SoundTrak with big screen 3D sound capabilities for
audio production and playback of existing sound clips using sound cards and
stereo speakers. QSound produces the only sound localization method that is
both patented and highly regarded within the exceptionally critical world of
the professional recording studio.
QSound technology has been used to produce major box office soundtracks
and music hits, including "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves", Madonna's
"Immaculate Collection", Sting's "Soul Cages", Paul McCartney's "Paul is
Live", Luther Vandross' "Power of Love", plus many others.
According to David Gallagher, president of QSound Labs, Inc., "We believe
that Animotion has the perfect vehicle for providing QSound in software form.
The end result is a package of extraordinary value, giving consumers a
powerful yet inexpensive means of enhancing their sample files with first-rate
spatial effects. We are pleased that multimedia aficionados will now be able
to use QSound with any stereo sound card."
