  1. Memory Tips for SMS MusicMaker

  3. If you have trouble setting up SMS MusicMaker due to memory problems you
  4. should read this file.

  6. SMS MusicMaker needs at least 8MB of physical RAM (this is the amount of
  7. RAM your computer really has) to run properly. However, since most 
  8. Windows installations waste a lot of RAM with drivers and fonts that are
  9. not actually needed you may find that you don't have enough RAM to run
  10. SMS MusicMaker or that it runs very slowly. If you run SMS MusicMaker on
  11. your computer and it turns out that you don't have enough memory there 
  12. are several things you can do about it:

  14. - Remove any fonts you don't need.
  15. - Don't use a background picture for your desktop.
  16. - Install at least 4MB of virtual memory. To do that go into Control Panel,
  17.   386 enhanced, virtual memory and tell Windows to use virtual memory with 
  18.   prefereably permanent swap file with at least 4096KB. A higher value than
  19.   4096KB is recommended.
  20. - Close other programs before running SMS MusicMaker.
