  3. Larger Ö I have recently stumbled upon a feature of Larger which I now
  4. use regularly. I cannot find any reference to it in the manual.

  6. When you double-click on an application on the backdrop, or in a filer
  7. window, it runs as you would expect. However, when you double-click and
  8. Éholdæ the second click down, the application is opened, as if <shift>
  9. were held down.

  11. I think that Larger causes this, as it seems to work only when Larger is
  12. loaded.

  16. Ink for Canons Ö I read with interest the letter detailing the
  17. successful use of non-generic inks for Canon printers. I have a BJC 600
  18. and have successfully refilled its cassettes many times using a
  19. hypodermic with a narrow needle. However, recently, the machine simply
  20. stopped printing, and I began to believe the head was damaged. I rang
  21. Canonæs helpline and the first question I was asked was öhave you used a
  22. non-Canon ink?ò Readers should be aware therefore that the use of such
  23. inks probably constitutes a breach of the warranty agreement, and that
  24. should be taken into account.

  26. P.S. The problem with the printer was solved by simply feeding a great
  27. deal of good paper through it, presumably cleaning the head thoroughly
  28. in the process.

  32. PowerTec SCSI II + PC Card Ö If you use these two, you may have found,
  33. like me, that SCSI discs formatted to DOS do not work with the PC card.
  34. I found that if you format the discs as ÉBlankæ and then use FDisk and
  35. Format from DOS to format them, they work fine.

  39. RTF facilities Ö Reference to Kate Crennellæs request for RTF conversion
  40. (Archive 9.12 p13) there are two Rich Text Format (RTF) PD utilities
  41. !RTFwriter and !RTFreader, both v.1.10, by Darryl Sims. These will
  42. convert RTF version 1 text files to Acorn Edit text format and vice
  43. versa.

  45. Both utilities are available on Risc Disc CD 1 in the Shareware DTP
  46. directory also on Datafile PD CD 1 Issue 2 in the Applications
  47. directory. They may also be downloaded from Arcade BBS.

  50. anyone wanting to do occasional conversions.
