  4. The Fonts directory contains fonts that are not 
  5. resident in ROM. The characters available within 
  6. them can be inspected using the Chars application.
  7.  
  8. The "Selwyn" font contains various symbols.
  9.  
  10. The "Portrhouse" font is intended primarily for 
  11. screen use. At a nominal height of 10 points, it 
  12. uses no grey pixels when rendered on a mode 12 or
  13. mode 20 screen.  This font is only provided with 
  14. the Latin1 character set.

  16. The "System.Fixed" font precisely mimics the System
  17. font built in to the machine. The tuned bitmap files
  18. ensure that at a nominal height of 12 points there 
  19. are no grey pixels when rendered on a mode 12 or 
  20. mode 20 screen.  This font is only provided with the
  21. Latin1 character set.

  23. The "System.Medium" font contains the same 
  24. characters as System.Fixed, butwith proportionally 
  25. spaced metrics.  This font is only provided with the
  26. Latin1 character set.
  27.  
  28. The "Sidney" font is included only to provide the 
  29. new Encoding file for use by the new Font manager.
  30. This file is also required if the PostScript
  31. printer driver is to render Sidney on a PostScript 
  32. device using the PostScript font "Symbol".  You 
  33. should copy this "Sidney" font over your existing 
  34. font, thus making a copy of the file "Encoding". If 
  35. you do not have a copy of the "Sidney" font then you 
  36. should ignore this directory and file.  It is not 
  37. advisable to delete the Sidney directory since you
  38. may require it in the future.
