The early Hebrew creation myths ally strongly with those of the areas that it is believed Man originated - Mesopotamia. In this Fertile Crescent, it was a common belief that a Godhead created all from nothing. What is paticularly interesting is that, although they had little in the way of real scientific instruments, in the modern sense, they were remarkably accurate within the context of myth. The first day may well relate to the time area approxomately 420,000,000,000 years ago when the dust began to settle and rocks were beginning to cool down. Earth would probably have been a series of periods of light then dark. It is interesting that Jews to this day start their days from the evening because of this story.
