  45. !Draw-Met is a Utility for converting Acorn Draw files to and from OS2 Metafile.

  47. Installation
  48. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  49. The DrawMet arc file should have been restored to a directory named
  50. !Draw-Met. Which should contain the following files :-

  53.            !Run        : Draw-Met Startup file.
  54.            !Sprites    : Draw-Met Application Sprites
  55.            !Templates  : Template files
  56.            Draw-Met    : Draw-Met Application.
  57.            Palette     : Default Metafile Colour Table.
  58.            Extended    : Extended Colour Table
  59.            ~~config    : Configuration file for Draw-Met.
  60.            !Help       : This file.

  62. Tailoring.

  65.     The !run file should be altered to suite your requirements :-
  66.

  68.     Modules required :-
  69.  
  70.        The Shared C Library should be loaded as appropriate for
  71.        your setup. The supplied !run file assumes that the C
  72.        shared library module is in !system.modules.
  73.  
  74.        The Floating Point Emulatory should be loaded as appropriate for
  75.        your setup. The supplied !run file assumes that the FPEmulator
  76.        module is in !system.modules.  
  77.                        
  78.     Variables required :-
  79.  
  80.        Draw-Met$Dir is required in order for Draw-Met to find its various
  81.        configuration files.

  83.     Storage required :-
  84.  
  85.        !Draw-Met has been tested with a wimpslot size of 128k
  86.        on a machine with 32k pages. lower values may be possible
  87.        on machines with smaller page sizes.
  88.  
  89.        The file to be converted is loaded into a buffer claimed from
  90.        the next slot. The space is return immediately after the conversion,
  91.        so you should not be able to see the change.
  92.        
  93.        If !Draw-Met  prompts that it does not have enough memory to process, 
  94.        then !Draw-Met must be restarted, having made provision that 
  95.        the next slot is large enough.

  97. Operation.
  98. ~~~~~~~~~~

  100.      1) First click on the !Draw-Met icon. This will install the !Draw-Met
  101.         icon on the icon bar.
  102.  
  103.      2) To convert a Draw file, drag the file to the !Draw-Met icon on
  104.         the icon bar. This will popup a save OS2 Metafile window. Drag the 
  105.         OS2 Metafile icon to the required destination. 
  106.  
  107.      3) To convert an OS2 Metafile, drag the file to the !Draw-Met icon on
  108.         the icon bar. This will popup a save Draw window. Drag the 
  109.         Draw icon to the required destination.

  111. Direct Conversions/Wimp Pipes
  112. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  114.      If you are converting a number of files then you might like to use the
  115.      wimp pipes facility. Clicking on !Draw-Met icon ( or via normal menus )
  116.      will bring up an options window.
  117.  
  118.      If the Draw/OS2 Metafile file icon is then dragged to a directory or application then a
  119.      a pipe is set up to that directory or application. Dragging a file or set
  120.      of files to the iconbar icon, will no longer prompt for a target file name but
  121.      automatically send the file to the relevant application or directory.

  132.        Causes Draw-Met to output a trace file called trace in the !Draw-Met directory.

  137.        Causes Draw-Met to output any warnings to a file called warnings 
  138.        in the !Draw-Met directory.

  145.        Will cause !Draw-Met to prompt for the target file name

  149.        Will cause !Draw-Met to prompt any warnings that occur

  152. Direct Links

  155.        Dragging either file icon will set the default target path for that
  156.        particular file type. This will also unset the prompt for filename.

  158. Current Restrictions
  159. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  161.        Not all OS2 Metafile elements are yet support, please report diagrams that
  162.        do not convert properly. ( Many Thanks ).

  164.        Some Metafiles use negative coordinate, if you convert such a file you will currently
  165.        have to do a select all and drag to a positive quadrant. If no elements are visible
  166.        draw an item, do a select all and then drag newly drawn item off to top right.
