  8. These little programs each change just one "bit"
  9. in the CMOS configuration, and their effect is
  10. described below. They are useful because they
  11. correspond to configuration options which have not
  12. yet been made accessible from the command line or
  13. the !Configure application.

  15. They have been tested on our RiscPCs and do not
  16. seem to have much effect on RISC OS 3.1 machines.
  17. It would not be advisable to use them on any other
  18. versions of the operating system as Acorn do not
  19. guarantee that the meaning of particular locations
  20. within the CMOS RAM will be the same.

  23. DragSprite (byte 28, bit 1)

  25. When dragging a file icon, this sets whether or
  26. not to use a dotted box or a moving sprite.
  27. Setting this has an immediate effect.

  30. ShftToggle (byte 28, bit 4)

  32. This tells the Desktop whether windows should stop
  33. above the iconbar when you click on their toggle
  34. size icons. The behaviour is swapped when you hold
  35. <shift> down. This option has immediate effect.

  38. TruncNames (byte 28, bit 0)
  39. ~~~~~~~~~~
  40. This tells RISC OS whether to truncate filenames
  41. that are too long (ie. greater than ten
  42. characters) and therefore potentially overwrite an
  43. existing file, or to give a meaningless error
  44. message to prevent you from saving a file unless
  45. it has ten characters or less in the name. You
  46. need to reset before this will take effect.
