Virus Target
Version 1.00 - 19910630
Robert Chrismas
Virus Target detects virus activity. If any of the files
within Virus Target are changed, or any files are added then
Virus Target will report the changes.
The files are tested when the application is first seen
during a session and whenever it is run.
The reports from Virus Target attempt to locate changes, but
this is hard to guarantee. For example if a file is renamed
Virus Target will see a file missing and a new file created.
Also, under some circumstances it can get 'out of step' and
report more changes than there actually are. However the
important thing to remember is that after any report of a
change from Virus Target you should inspect the application
very carefully yourself to see what has happened.
The best place to put Virus Target is somewhere prominent on
a hard disk, or on floppies with !System or !Fonts where it
is likely to be attacked.
Since it is possible to construct Viruses so that they only
attack certain sorts of applications the absence of a report
from Virus Target does not guarantee that you have not been
attacked.
Virus Check is Public Domain. You are encouraged to change it
in any you see fit so that Viruses will not be able to
recognise it. As an absolute minimum I suggest you rename it.
When you have made all the changes you wish run the 'Reset'
program to reinitialise the check data. You do not need to
have the Reset program in the application, so you can move it
out if you want to reduce the size of Virus target.
Remember if you use immunisation programs then any changes
they make will be reported by Virus Target.
If you are infected report the details to:
