{S:X;X;0;0;An Introduction to ZLine{ITR-X}by Gerald L Fitton}
{S:X;X;0;1;Keywords: Fireworkz Pro Wordz Resultz Recordz PipeLine ZLine ILine Fitton}
{S:X;X;0;2;What are Fireworkz and Fireworkz Pro?{ITR-X}{ITR-X}Fireworkz is a package which includes Wordz (a word processor) and Resultz (a spreadsheet). FireworkzáPro consists of Fireworkz (ie Wordz and Resultz) plus Recordz (a database).}
{S:X;X;0;3;Although Wordz, Resultz and Recordz can be bought as individual packages you can buy the integrated packages Fireworkz or FireworkzáPro at a discount on the individual packages.}
{S:X;X;0;4;Reading ZLine files{ITR-X}{ITR-X}If you have Fireworkz Pro and install it on the icon bar then all the files on the ZLine discs will load into it and you will have no problems running any of them.}
{S:X;X;0;5;If you have only Fireworkz and not Fireworkz Pro then you will still be able to read most of the files I have created in Fireworkz and FIreworkzáPro but, if you have only Fireworkz then you will not be able to run the database files which have been created using the Recordz part of Fireworkz Pro.}
{S:X;X;0;6;We can sell you the Fireworkz demo disc to you for ú2.00 if you live in the UK or within the European Union\ÿit is ú2.50 if you live elsewhere in the world.}
{S:X;X;0;7;The FireworkzáPro demo disc is not yet available.}
{S:X;X;0;8;What is ZLine?{ITR-X}{ITR-X}ZLine is a Fireworkz user group run by us at Abacus Training. Perhaps the most useful part of our User Group is the postal technical help service available to every member.}
{S:X;X;0;9;In addition to the technical help service, each year subscribers receive four discs which contain applications of the Fireworkz packages written for users by users. Although the discs contains tutorial articles for beginners, you will also find applications written by experts for experts. It is a forum for those want to share their knowledge, improve their techniques and discover how others have done those things that might be considered impossible with other packages! The quarterly discs also contain articles of general interest such as articles about RISCáOS, Paint, Draw, booting, printing and viruses.}
{S:X;X;0;10;The \Éformula\æ we are using for ZLine is similar to that which we have used since we launched PipeLine for PipeDream users in 1990. It was Robert Macmillan, a Director of Colton Software who first suggested that we should run a user group supporting PipeDream. They have recommended our PipeLine user group, our PipeLine discs and the support we give to users of PipeDream.}
{S:X;X;0;11;Even before Wordz was launched they asked us if we wished run a user group for the Fireworkz packages, an offer we were pleased to accept. The first of the quarterly ZLine discs was issued in Marchá1993. Since then our subscription list has grown\\\; there is no doubt that ZLine is proving to be as much a success with users of the Fireworkz packages as PipeLine was (and still is) with users of Colton Software\æs PipeDream package.}
{S:X;X;0;12;Although we are completely independent of Colton Software we have an excellent working relationship with them. In addition to contributions from members of the user group, we receive a great deal of technical support from Colton Software, particularly with subscribers\æ questions that we can\æt answer. They recommend our ZLine user group, our ZLine discs and our support service to all purchasers of the Fireworkz packages.}
{S:X;X;0;13;How do you find what you want?{ITR-X}{ITR-X}Except for the first two files, [0thReadMe] and [1stReadMe], the root directory consists only of directories with descriptive names such as Contents and OtherDiscs. In every directory there will be a [ReadMe] file\ÿit might be the only file in the directory. Load that [ReadMe] and go on from there.}
{S:X;X;0;14;Arc Scan Format{ITR-X}{ITR-X}If you would like an index to our user group discs in ArcScan format then you can obtain them directly from RogeráMáKing. Please write directly to Roger enclosing a copy of your ArcScan package on a floppy disc together with a return address label. UK stamps can not be used in Guernsey but 25p in coins would help!}
{S:X;X;0;15;His address is:}
{S:X;X;0;16;Roger M King{ITR-X}MalgrΘ-Tout{ITR-X}La Ruette des Corneilles{ITR-X}Cobo CΓtel{ITR-X}Guernsey{ITR-X}GY5 7HG}
{S:X;X;0;17;Contents{ITR-X}{ITR-X}The file in the Contents directory contains a brief description of the contents of each of the other directories. I suggest that you open the Contents directory first and then select an application which interests you.}
{S:X;X;0;18;What is ILine{ITR-X}{ITR-X}ILine is yet another of our User Groups\\\; it supports users of Impression Style and Impression Publisher. Since ZLine and ILine subscriptions are the same price, at any time you may convert the outstanding part of your ZLine subscription to one for ILine\ÿor, if you wish, you may subscribe to both user groups. The first ILine disc is the Januaryá1995 disc.}
{S:X;X;0;19;OtherDiscs{ITR-X}{ITR-X}The directory OtherDiscs contains contents files for some (but not all) of the ZLine discs which we can supply. It also contains our current price list. If you would like a similar list of the contents of out ILine and PipeLine discs then please send an 800áKb formatted disc together with a self addressed label and, if possible, return postage.}
{S:X;X;0;20;Style{ITR-X}{ITR-X}The style (not to be confused with Fireworkz\æ styles) that I have adopted for the [ReadMe] files of the ZLine discs is that called \Éblocked\æ. The alternative to a \Éblocked\æ layout is the way I was taught to write at school\ÿand which I still find in many newspapers\ÿthat is to indent the first line of each new paragraph. Newspapers generally use no space below each paragraph and the <Return> key is tapped only once between paragraphs.}
{S:X;X;0;21;If you design a new set of styles having the same names as the styles I have used (such as ZLBase, ZLHeading, ZLByLine and ZLSubHead) then you can drag them into the [ReadMe] documents of this disc and so reformat them to anything your heart desires! A tutorial explaining how to do this (with examples) is in the Style01 directory on both the ZL9303 (Marchá1993) disc and our ZIntro disc.}
{S:X;X;0;22;Contributions{ITR-X}{ITR-X}If you send in a contribution for inclusion on the ZLine discs then it will be helpful if you use as your pro forma (your template) a typical [ReadMe] file\ÿsuch as this one or the templates found in the Templates directory.}
{S:X;X;0;23;Typeface{ITR-X}{ITR-X}To avoid problems which will arise if you don\æt have particular fonts such as Beebug\æs Paladin or EFF\æs French, all ZLine\æs [ReadMe] files and nearly all the other files use only the outline fonts Trinity, Homerton and Corpus since these are provided as part of RISCáOSá3.1 or as a \Éstarter set\æ of fonts. If you wish to print these files you will need to use a RISCáOS printer driver suitable for your printer.}
{S:X;X;0;24;Sprites{ITR-X}{ITR-X}A further problem arises if you send me sprites, for example screenshots, which use a non standard mode. Please use ChangeFSI (or some similar package) to convert your sprite to modeá12 (16 colours) or modeá15 (256 colours).}
{S:X;X;0;25;Disc Format{ITR-X}{ITR-X}I am unable to read HD format discs so please use format E (800áKb) rather than format F.}
