%H2%Summary of CmdKeys1
Six dark grey keys (the four arrow keys, PageUp and PageDown) still cannot
be redefined in PD4, but the other seven in the above Keywords list can. The
article suggests some principles and patterns to guide their intensive use,
and mentions a few traps to avoid. The directory Cuckoo on the November
1992 PipeLine4 disc demonstrates some problems with the use of certain keys
during formula editing.
Fingers are not easy to retrain, but I have found the effort worth while, to
make the best use of a programme as versatile as PipeDream. Try these key
definitions on some serious editing of text and tables, but always save your
file before using a key you are not sure about. I hope you will like them
as much as I do: after a few days' use, I no longer had much need of the
memory aid, because the pattern of key combinations makes sense. But I'm
still saving files more often -- did somebody say that's a good idea anyway?
I intend to develop these ideas further, to make most PD4 commands easier to
remember and use from the keyboard. Please contact me if you are interested
in this project: my address and phone number are at the end of CmdKeys1.
