Dear Gerald
Enclosed is a statistics custom function sheet for PipeDream4 which may be of interest to
your PipeLine readers in Archive.
The custom functions in PipeDream4 have tremendous potential and I have used them to
create a set of statistics functions that could be used in teaching the subject. They are based
on the built-in stats functions supplied with PipeDream4 but many provide a friendlier text
output. The function %H4%sciform%H4% is used to express numeric data in scientific notation and is
called whenever a text output is generated so as to keep it tidy.
To install, copy the file %H4%stats%H4% into the Library directory within the !PipeDream application
directory. Next load the file %H4%template%H4% and save it as a template file called %H4%Statistics%H4%. When a
new %H4%Statistics%H4% document is opened (from the icon bar menu) the %H4%stats%H4% custom function sheet
will be loaded automatically. To avoid cluttering the desktop, the latter can be closed down on
to the Pinboard if RISC OS 3 is available.
Statistical calculations may now be performed within the %H4%Statistics%H4% sheet. Note that since
many of the functions return a string, the cell containing the custom function should be
snapshotted (Ctrl BSS) to display the full text.
Best wishes
Gordon Nicholas
