%JR%%H1%Reading
%JR%Reading progress is below average, and needs to improve to a level more consistent
%JL%with @t@@@@@@@@'s ability. Better use of syllabification - phonetics - word
%JR%beginnings and endings will assist with the identification of unknown words.
%JL%Further growth of @t@@@@@@@@'s word knowledge will assist improved understanding and
reading speed. Recreational reading habits need to be improved.
%H1%Language
%JR%Handicapped by limited vocabulary. @t@@@@@@@@ needs to develop and build better
%JR%speech patterns. @t@@@@@@@@ has some difficulty following discussions and can be
%JR%easily distracted. Oral contributions tend to be inconsistent. Ideas can be vague
%JR%or disconnected. Improved planning techniques need to be developed. Vocabulary use
has improved and now shows greater variety.
%H1%Mathematics
%JR%Frequently @t@@@@@@@@ has difficulty in talking about or showing how basic maths
%JL%processes work. @t@@@@@@@@ tries hard but needs maths equipment help together with
%JR%regular revision. Finds logic and reasoning in problem solving activities very
%JL%difficult. @t@@@@@@@@'s understanding is at a basic level. Errors are often caused by
%JR%poor knowledge and retention of basic facts. Further improvement in this area is
%JL%required. @T@@@@@@@@ is working on a modified programme and is learning basic
computation and practical measurement skills.
%H1%Science
%JR%Simple process skills involving classifying and observing have been well learnt by
%JR%@t@@@@@@@@. At times @T@@@@@@@@ has some difficulty in discussing or showing outcomes of
science experiments previously experienced.
%H1%Social Studies
%JR%@t@@@@@@@@ is not an independent worker and needs to be kept on task. Usually works
%JR%better in small group situations. @t@@@@@@@@ does not always complete tasks. Project
work often lacks depth. Presentation skills could show further improvement.
%H1%Arts and Crafts
%JR%Keen and enthusiastic attitudes to art and craft activities. Mixes and uses colours
effectively. Improvement could be shown in greater care and attention to detail.
%H1%Music
%JR%Shows little interest in musical activities. Sings simple songs with good rhythm
and pitch.
%H1%Physical Education
%JR%Has taken part in Saturday school rugby activities. Shows strong ability in team
%JL%sports. Co-ordination skills have developed and improved during the year. @T@@@@@@@@
%JR%shows growing independence in meeting physical challenges both individually and
with others.
%H1%Health
%JR%Needs continued help in sharing and coping with personal upsets. @t@@@@@@@@ needs to
%JL%be more considerate of the rights and feelings of others. @t@@@@@@@@ needs to develop
better relationships with others - children and adults.
%H1%Taha Maori
%JR%@t@@@@@@@@ enjoys active participation in Maori cultural activities available to
%JR%pupils. Shows strong ability in Maori song and waiata and has been a valued member
%JR%of our school's Maori Culture group. @t@@@@@@@@ is a member of the school's Maori
Haka group.
%H1%Personal Development
%JR%@T@@@@@@@@ has not settled to study patterns as expected. Can be easily distracted
%JL%and too often leaves tasks unfinished. Needs more self motivation. Work patterns
%JR%have been very inconsistent and @t@@@@@@@@ is not working to full ability.
%JL%Significant improvement is needed. At times @t@@@@@@@@ needs to develop greater self
%JR%discipline and responsibility. Can upset others in class. Needs to learn that
%JL%accepting responsibility for one's own actions helps develop self esteem and self
%JR%worth. @t@@@@@@@@ needs to develop honesty, and show more personal responsiblity for
%JL%undesirable behaviour. I have been particularly pleased with improvements shown
lately by @t@@@@@@@@.
