Dear Mr Fitton,
%JR%Thank you for your reply to my letter, with the disc you
%JL%enclosed. It contained a great deal of most interesting
%JR%information, and of course the solution to the
format-to-two-widths problem.
%JR%The PD printer driver which gave me the problems was the
%JL%FX80 one supplied. I enclose a copy thereof, and one
%JR%slightly modified by me for my Star LC-10 printer. I also
%JL%enclose a letter to Colton which I have not sent to them
%JR%yet, as this explains my "cent-sign" problem in some
%JL%detail. I have not sent the letter, as I have not really
%JR%been able to devote enough time to PD3, and there may be
%JL%more items which addle my brain. Also, the advent of a new
release may remove some of them.
%JR%I also make a lot of use of the IBM top-bit-set graphics
%JL%characters - the ones you draw boxes around tables with. I
%JR%know RISC OS drivers can't print them, as they are not
%JL%defined as such. That doesn't matter, because if I set my
%JR%printer to "IBM ", it prints them quite happily. Also, it
%JL%is this very character set that yields the cent sign! I
%JR%hope to find time to sit down and produce a PD3 driver for
IBM characters - some day!
%JR%Thank you again for your help, and thank you for a most
useful column!
Best wishes,
