  9. The HyperStudio Preview CD-ROM includes a HyperStudio License 
  10. specially designed to introduce you to this exciting new software.
  11. The HyperStudio Preview is intended to be shared with others! (Of
  12. course, we ask that you do not share the actual "for-sale" version
  13. of the software!)
  14.  
  15. This is a fully functional version of HyperStudio, but is set up
  16. in an innovative way to give you the greatest degree of freedom in
  17. exploring the software. It has full menus for adding text, sounds,
  18. buttons, etc.  
  19.

  21. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  22. -------------------
  23.  
  24. The HyperStudio Preview software works on any Acorn computer
  25. running RISC OS 3.1 or later, with a minimum of 4MB memory.
  26.  
  27. To run the HyperStudio Preview directly from the CD, locate the
  28. HYPSTUDIO folder on the CD-ROM (this will open automatically the
  29. first time you look at the CD) and double-click "!STARTHERE" to run
  30. the HyperStudio Preview. (Or see the section 'Running the
  31. HyperStudio Preview from the CD-ROM' below.)

  33. IMPORTANT: Acorn Replay is required to view movies on the Preview
  34. CD. This should already be installed on your computer.

  37. RUNNING THE HYPERSTUDIO PREVIEW FROM THE CD-ROM
  38. -----------------------------------------------

  40. If you have found this !ReadMe file on the CD, you can start at
  41. step 5. '!STARTHERE' is located next to '!README'.
  42.  
  43. 1. Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.  
  44.  
  45. 2. Click on the CD-ROM icon at the left of the icon bar.
  46.   
  47. 3. CDFS::AUCD3.$ will open. CDFS::AUCD3.$.HYPSTUDIO may open.
  48.   
  49. 4. If necessary, double-click on HYPSTUDIO to open
  50.    CDFS::AUCD3.$.HYPSTUDIO.
  51.  
  52. 5. Run '!STARTHERE'.
  53.  
  54. The free memory in your computer will be checked. If there is not
  55. enough to run the introductory stacks with the HyperStudio Preview
  56. application, you will be given the chance to free some memory or
  57. use the HyperStudio Player (a cut down version of HyperStudio which
  58. allows you to view stacks but not edit them).
  59.  
  60. 6. You will see some pictures of rocks with words on. The first
  61. time you use the CD, you are advised to wait for an introduction to
  62. HyperStudio. This will be started automatically after about 10
  63. seconds (unless you click on a rock first).
  64.  
  65.     • click on 'Info' to see this text again
  66.  
  67.     • click on 'The HyperStudio Story' to view a shortened version of
  68.       the HyperStudio introduction.

  71. INSTALLING THE HYPERSTUDIO PREVIEW ONTO YOUR HARD DISK
  72. ------------------------------------------------------

  74. Once you have viewed the introduction to HyperStudio, you might
  75. find it convenient to install the HyperStudio Preview application
  76. onto your hard disk. To do this, quit HyperStudio, then run the
  77. !INSTALL application (located inside HSINSTALL).
  78.  
  79. If you choose a full installation, sample resources will be
  80. installed. If you choose a reduced installation, only the
  81. HyperStudio application and home stack will be installed.

  84. USING THE PREVIEW VERSION
  85. -------------------------
  86.  
  87. When a stack is opened, the SAVE AS menu item will be disabled.
  88. This will let you explore existing stacks, including editing items
  89. there, and even adding your own improvements. However, you will not
  90. be able to save your modifications.
  91.  
  92. When you choose NEW, or create a new stack by clicking on the
  93. HyperStudio icon on the icon bar, the SAVE AS option will be
  94. ENABLED! This means you can create any new HyperStudio project you
  95. wish (up to four cards), and save it! Please remember, though, that 
  96. once you have saved your new project, you'll no longer be able to
  97. save any further changes to it, although you certainly can still
  98. open and run it.

  100. Not only can you try out the many creative options of this 
  101. software, but you'll find samples of stacks created by a 
  102. variety of users, and examples of movies, digitized pictures and
  103. sound, and much more.
