1. If you are upgrading from a version of dCOM older than 3.43, you may
safely delete any files in dCOM's directory which have a numerical
extension (i.e. DCOM.001, DCOM.002, etc...). These files were once used
as overlays, but are now integrated into a single file called DCOM.OVL.
2. A complete list of every single change or enhancement made to dCOM since
version 3.40 is available for downloading from the dCOM Support BBS
(805/264-1219) in a file called 340TO400.ZIP. There are 350 changes
documented in this file.
3. The documentation files for the shareware version are supplied in
separate files as follows:
DCOMDOC1.ZIP (Basic User's Guide, File Handling, Utilities)
DCOMDOC2.ZIP (Macro Programming, Access Control, Menuing)
4. If you are going to print the documentation files, be prepaired with
plenty of paper. They are lengthy. They are formatted for a printer
that backspaces (for bolding), and line feeds are used to advance the
paper. Be sure your top of form is set correctly before you start.
5. If you have a Hewlett Packard LaserJet II or III printer, a nice
utility is available called 4PRINT from Korenthal Associates. It can
print 2 pages on one sheet of paper (in landscape orientation), and
properly produces bolded text. It is available for downloading as
shareware from a number of bulletin boards (including dCOM's) or from
Compuserve.
