  1. How to use a joystick AND a mouse at the same time while playing "Doom".

  4. You can use your mouse AND your joystick BOTH at the same time while playing
  5. Doom. This will give you ultra precise control and quick manuevering when you
  6. need it the most!
  7. I hold the mouse in my right hand and the joystick in my left, but you can
  8. switch hands depending on your preference.
  9. In order to do this you must edit the DEFAULT.CFG file which is in the DOOM
  10. directory with a text editor.
  11. Make a backup copy of your DEFAULT.CFG file before you begin `just in case'.

  13. Here is what you should look for and what you need to change:

  16. use_mouse               1  (THIS MUST BE SET TO 1!)

  19. THE NEXT THREE PARAMETERS ARE WHAT MOUSE BUTTON DOES WHAT. BUTTON 0 IS THE LEFT
  20. BUTTON, 1 IS CENTER AND 2 IS THE RIGHT ONE.
  21. YOU CAN SET THESE HOW EVER YOU LIKE THEM.

  33. THE NEXT FOUR PARAMETERS ARE WHAT JOYSTICK BUTTON DOES WHAT. BUTTON 0 IS THE
  34. FINGER BUTTON, BUTTON 1 IS THE THUMB BUTTON. BUTTONS 2 AND 3 ARE FOR A GRAVIS
  35. GAMEPAD BUT MAY WORK WITH A FLIGHTSTICK PRO??
  36. AGAIN, YOU CAN SET THESE HOW EVER YOU LIKE THEM.
  37. IF YOU SET "joyb_use" AND "joyb_speed" BOTH TO 1, THE THUMB BUTTON WILL OPEN
  38. DOORS AS WELL AS `RUN' IF YOU ARE MOVING.

  48. Of course I will not be held responsible if you accidently erase your entire
  49. hard drive or if you break the glass on your monitor with the BFG, but with the
  50. above setup I can kill damn near anything <G>.
