  3. To get started quickly, there are only a few things you need to know.
  4. You are the only decent living thing in the catacombs.  You can blast
  5. away at anything that moves, but be careful, wild shots can destroy
  6. valuable treasure.
  7.  
  8. Your quest is to find Nemesis and destroy him.  He will send legions
  9. of his undead and demented creatures after you in an attempt to
  10. thwart your plans.
  11.  
  12. To move from level to level you will have to find the keys to the
  13. doors that provide access to new levels.  When you have a proper key
  14. you can move through a door.  On each level there is one door that
  15. takes you to the next level, and there is one key that opens that
  16. door.  Your job is to find the key, then the door.
  17.  
  18. To move, use the following keys:
  19. ^1   FORWARD - The Up arrow key
  20. ^1   BACKWARD - The Down arrow key
  21. ^1   TURN LEFT - The left arrow key
  22. ^1   TURN RIGHT - The right arrow key
  23.  
  24. You can make a "quick turn" by holding down the tab key while
  25. turning to your right or left.
  26.  
  27. You can move sideways by holding down the <alt> key and pressing
  28. the left or right arrow key.  This can be very handy.
  29.  
  30. Treasure in the Catacombs comes in four basic varieties:
  31. ^1   1. Deadly offensive spells 
  32. ^1   2. Healing potions
  33. ^1   3. Keys to doors
  34. ^1   4. Gems to locate attacking fiends.

  36. To fire, use the following keys:
  37. ^1   CONTROL - A magic missile, you have an endless supply.
  38. ^1   Z - A burst of missiles, you must find these.
  39. ^1   X - An explosion of missiles in all directions, you must
  40. ^1       find these too.
  41.  
  42. You can also heal damage by drinking potions.  To drink a potion
  43. press the space bar.
