  1. In 1993 the Illinois-based National Centre for Supercomputer 
  2. Applications (NCSA) created Mosaic, a graphical Web browser which was 
  3. able to display pictures as well as text. Suddenly it was possible to 
  4. produce documents which looked, well, not quite as good as the pages of 
  5. this magazine, but a lot better than anything Internet users had seen 
  6. before.
