  1. FUSION AMPman LCD - A WinAmp "Skins" Interface.

  10. A pretty major interface change here. What used to be
  11. WinAmp's default visualization scheme ("fire" spectrum
  12. analyzer and white oscilliscope) is now a full LCD process.
  13. Personally, I think this change make the far-too-often-
  14. overlooked oscilliscope one heckuva kick-ass viz!
  15.  
  16. The main viz viewport has been extended for aesthetic
  17. reasons, and a light gray mesh added behind the viz area.

  19. [My sincere thanks to Arend Miller and Mathew Tolj who
  20. convinced me to re-explore the "all LCD" metaphor, AND who
  21. took the time to re-work the skin to illustrate what they
  22. meant. You guys deserve a huge round of applause. :) ]

  24. The eject button now clicks upwards instead of downwards
  25. because of some weird optical illusion which makes the "up"
  26. position look off center. [Thanks to Raif Awaida for pointing
  27. this anomaly out.]

  32. Firstly, Fusion AMPman is now a WinAmp "skins" set. <G>
  33.  
  34. Just a couple of very minor modifications to clean up the
  35. interface. With WinAmp 1.80, the viz display now sports an
  36. all black background - something I wanted right from the
  37. start but was unable to do.

  39. I've also included re-designed WinAmp Speakers, coordinated
  40. to match the AMPman skin.

  43. Designer's notes
  44. ----------------
  45. If you think the interface looks familiar, it is. I based it
  46. on the look of my trusty old Sony Walkman. Kinda figured it
  47. would make a neat design... after all, the idea of having
  48. personal music wherever you are DID go ballistic when Sony
  49. introduced the Walkman, and WinAmp does exactly that - your
  50. choice of music, whatever you're doing...

  53. Display notes
  54. -------------
  55. First things first: if you're using a 256-color display,
  56. Fusion AMPman will look like crap. The very subtle shadings
  57. in the interface will look their pretty good on a hi-color
  58. display (16-bit) and smooth as silk on a true-color (24- or
  59. 32-bit) display.

  66. totally responsible for the incredible response to the
  67. original Fusion AMPman "hack/mod/variation". You're the

  75. - where Fusion AMPman made its debut - who gave it MP3.com's
  76. very first and still the only 5-smiley rating for WinAmp
  77. mods. Here's one more smiley for ya, Marcel... :)

  80. most incredible MP3 player I have ever seen. Hats off to
  81. you all, and my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for
  82. including Fusion AMPman in your very first "skins" release.

  88. mean I got a heckuva lot of e-mail!!!) thanks bunches for
  89. your support. You are the main reason why Fusion AMPman became
  90. the runaway success it has been. WOW!!!

  93. support and encouragement, Fusion AMPman might never have
