  3. mtab \*- mounted file system table
  4. .sh DESCRIPTION
  5. .it Mtab
  6. resides in directory
  7. .it /etc
  8. and contains a table of devices mounted by the
  9. .it mount
  10. command.
  11. .it Umount
  12. removes entries.

  14. Each entry is 64 bytes long;
  15. the first 32 are the null-padded name of the
  16. place where the special file is mounted;
  17. the second 32 are the null-padded name of the special
  18. file.
  19. The special file has all its directories
  20. stripped away;
  21. that is, everything through the last ``/'' is thrown
  22. away.

  24. This table is present only so people can look at it.
